The tournament has been repeatedly disrupted by bad weather and Henin in particular has suffered - she was on court for the fifth time in three days.

Play was suspended on Saturday with Kuznetsova 3-2 up in the final set and she completed a 6-4 5-7 6-4 win.

The Russian will play 12th seed Ana Ivanovic in the final later on Sunday.

Kuznetsova, the world number four, will go into the match boosted by only her second win over Henin in 16 meetings.

It was very dangerous actually and everyone was scared they were going to get injured

Justine Henin

On Saturday evening she had failed to serve out the match at 5-3 in the second set, but on Sunday morning's resumption Henin's seventh double fault of the match gifted Kuznetsova a match point in game nine.

A wayward backhand followed to see the Belgian's hopes of a fourth Berlin title dashed.

Afterwards, Henin said she was pleased to come through a week of wind and rain unscathed.

"It was very dangerous actually and everyone was scared they were going to get injured," she said. "I had a lot of difficult moments but I just kept fighting."

The Belgian will now take two weeks off to rest and train ahead of her attempt to win a fourth French Open title in Paris at the end of the month.

"I'm glad because I had a good preparation here and a lot of matches on the clay and that's good for the French," she said.

At last Sveta gets another win  She's fave for the title now although I don't mind who wins...

Tough week for Justine, but she still won Warsaw, so she should be happy with her preparations :)

It's still 14-2 though right  roflmao

Justine must've been tired as hell, 2 matches in 3 days or something to that extent. Still, she still looks in great form going into the french :)

I know, I was shocked she didn't pull a Houdini act again roflmao

Yeah, this week in Berlin has been a nightmare with all the delays, the winner will be very relieved, and the tournament directors too!

Yeah, but you only have to wait another week for her to appear in Istanbul :D

I know, I saw some of the ATP Rome event, and the weather was great, can't wait for the next stop :smash:

Yup roflmao

I think she played on average 2 matches per day for the past 3 days!

Not surprising she's knackered!! It's not fair really.

The rest had it easy compared to Justine's scheduling. I can always tell when she's knackered, the serve is atrocious and the cold sore comes back, which is exactly what happened yesterday and obviously carried forward to today :(
