Title: Roddick Nadal "crossed out"

http://www.atptennis.com/en/common/TrackIt...007/416/mds.pdfAnyone know why Roddick and Nadals names are crossed out at the bottom? (seeded players bit)

That normally means they've pulled out but since they haven't been replaced in the draw it could just be a mistake or they haven't had time to work out which Lucky Losers will replace them.

thanks for update..will be really disappointing if Nadal has pulled out.

Would Fed lose interest if Nadal were no longer there on the other side of the draw? Or would he just get on with it and try to win anyway? Might save their H2H a further lurch in favour of Nadal?
Nadal's absence would be a huge blow to the prestiege and relevance of the tournament this year - a sort of Hamburg before Hamburg...

I don't think he'd lose interest, as he's got a clay point to prove. However, I think it would be somewhat deflating for him.
It's deflating generally - I really hope this is a mistake. Not as bothered about A-Rod, as he and clay don't generally make a recipe for great tennis...but Rafa going out could be disastrous.
I am having to stop myself wildly speculating about what this could mean for the rest of the season, and wait for some facts!! :D

It looks rather ominous, but there are signs indicating it's just an error. For one, if you notice Roddick's number in the ranking column is also crossed out, unlike Nadal's. Also as his line is just below Nadal's, it can make sense that the latter's strikethrough might have been meant for the former. Lastly the American's abrupt absence wouldn't be surprising given the hamstring issues he'd had since Miami, and his eagerness to take a pass on red clay if given the chance. Heh.
But yes, truly hope it proves to be an error.

surely something would have been announced by now, it's past midday in rome...
Tenez - May 8, 2007 02:13 PM (GMT)
actually those kind of news are delayed to the very last possible moment..for mkg reasons.
vivahate - May 8, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
well then i'll shut up.
it would be awkward for nadal to pull out the day after opening rome with a doubles win over fed
Tenez - May 8, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
You right. I forgot he played the double a couple of days ago. Hopefully its a typo (a strange one admitedly worthy of firing the webmaster!).
SaraLess - May 8, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
they published the wrong results on live scores during that doubles matches, also...commentators were saying someone was going to lose their job over the mistake. Let's hope it's a similar one!!
Nick Havoc - May 8, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
I think it is probably an error. I haven't heard anything about Nadal pulling out, and he and Moya are scheduled up next on Court 6 in doubles.
Manzikert - May 8, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Nadal played and won his doubles match, so it seems he's set to play. It was probably wishful thinking on the part of a Federer supporter with access to the hosted file. ;)
Roddick is also still listed on the OOP sheet to face off against Gaudio, and he's not one to pull out minutes before a match, so I'd guess it was just a random error across the board. Rather irksome.
