Pebs - May 7, 2007 11:14 AM (GMT)
just seen that on the scoreboard....
looks like Tims serve is misfiring though - thats his second double fault - hes going to hand break straight back doing that....
Pebs - May 7, 2007 11:15 AM (GMT)
and handed straight back - there goes that brief flurry of hope!
Pebs - May 7, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
and consolidates it with a love game too...
:(
dl04 - May 7, 2007 11:18 AM (GMT)
Almagro first player to hold serve at 2-1..........

Pebs - May 7, 2007 11:30 AM (GMT)
 came through some break points there...
but takes the game :D
just noticed the score for JCF :( he's in danger of being bagelled - whats going on there?
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)
Come on Tim!!!!!! 3-3, hes battling well considering hes not played many matches this year and is playing someone who favours clay courts!
Flame - May 7, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
*3-4 huge game now. please win it.
Flame - May 7, 2007 11:41 AM (GMT)
come on tim, nick a break and rob the set, you can do it!!
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 11:43 AM (GMT)
4-5 now Flame, this is even bigger!
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
Good to see that Tim is hanging in there. Looks like it's going to be 6-5 to Almagro in a moment - let's hope Time can hold there and force the tie-breaker. Then anything can happen.
And 6-5 it is. Go Tiger Tim!
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:52 AM (GMT)
0-15
15-15 ... 30-15 :)
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 11:52 AM (GMT)
Cmon!!! get it to a tie-break and whether u lose it or win it I will be pleased that you pushed Almagro to at least a first set tie-break on clay and thats blooming good considering hes not match fit nor an expert on clay!

mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
My live-scores are messed up! :yikes: :badpc:

mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
Live-scores are back ...
Noooo .... 30-40 ... Set point for Almagro :yikes:

Big Al - May 7, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 11:56 AM (GMT)
And there goes the match :( I think Tim put his all into that set, can see him being broken a few times now in this one,
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:58 AM (GMT)
Meanwhile, the Bjorkman-Tursunov match looks like a bit of a stinker from the statistics. First serve percentages are 47% and 33% :yikes: for Jonas and Dmitry, respectively.
After Jonas was serving for the set at 5-4, it's now 6-5 to Dmitry, with Jonas having to hold serve to stay in it.
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 11:59 AM (GMT)
By being broken in the last game of the set, Tim is again in the same position in the second as he was in the first, always trailing behind at the start of his service games as long as Almagro holds serve. Sadly, I can see another 6-4 or 7-5 set to Almagro here. Let's hope I'm wrong.
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 12:11 PM (GMT)
Looks like my prediction was right :( he was 15-40 down in his service game and brought it to advantage to him at one point! but went on to lose it and Almagro raced away with his own service game. I am impressed with how Tim battled for that first set though, even though he will lose here he gave a good account of himself with all thats happened this year. So there is some optimism for us Henman fans!
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
Almagro serving for the match at 5-1 :( :( :(
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
And Jonas lost the first set against Dmitry, despite having served for the set and holding set points in the tie-break. :(
mightyjeditribble - May 7, 2007 12:27 PM (GMT)
Tim battles back up to deuce. Can he still delay the end of the match, and at least prevent the breadstick?

No. :( 7-5 6-1 Almagro.
SerenaW19 - May 7, 2007 12:27 PM (GMT)
Wow :(
Tim has a habit of tanking the second set if he loses the first these days. Tell me Im wrong but Im really not convinced his heart is in it anymore :(
He's the best british male player since Fred Perry, but it's just becoming too hard for Tim now :(
chairman - May 7, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
Can henman fans please state their reason why henman should just retire?
SaraLess - May 7, 2007 12:35 PM (GMT)
I think it's got to be about having a final Wimbledon swan song and then retiring gracefully...
Tennis_Mad_Andy - May 7, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
SW19, i'm not sure whether it's his heart or the fact hes probably gave his all in that 1st set and pushed a good clay court player to almost a first set tie-break. Maybe it is mental and he just feels like hes lost the 1st set after battling hard so he feels dejected? I dont really know :(
Tim shouldn't retire yet, still got 2 years left in him after this IMO.

Hmmm yes I suppose this is clay afterall....I agree with Sara I think he needs to have one last Wimbledon Swan Song, beat a few good players and go out in style :D
SaraLess - May 7, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
Yes, and go out on his "home turf" too...
