Title: Joseph anyone?
WimbledonAce - May 6, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Yeah I know ANOTHER reality show and once again I am drawn in - promsied myself I wouldnt watch this one!
Who does everyone think will win? For me there are only 3 possible winners - Lee, Lewis or Daniel. If I were to pick I would go with Lewis as for me he looks the part and is a great performer. Time will no doubt tell though.
Lex - May 7, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
we've been watching the other side - the Grease one so can't really comment. I did see a couple of episodes and thought there were some who were heads and shoulders above the rest, but don't know their names.
WimbledonAce - May 7, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
I abandoned Grease in favour of Joseph as I prefer Joseph as a musical. Also not too keen on having to pick a couple in Grease, seems unfair if one of the partnership lets the other down.
Lex - May 7, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
I've wondered about that as well
perhaps they should have kept them single then paired up later in competition

I have to confess to loving the Joseph show even though the public sometimes votes the wrong person out in my opinion.I liked Seamus a lot-very talented and charismatic.I also thought Johndeep had a great voice and was quite moving when he sang,if a little camp at times.Lee and Daniel are now the front runners, but I reckon Keith could be the dark horse.Have checked out Grease a couple of times but all those ads drive me nuts and none of the contestants give Travolta a run for his money.
Mo aka Mz O'Hara - May 11, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
I'm a big fan of Lee, he comes across as the best all round performer, from singing, to conveying a song, the emotion etc, and even down to the way he moves around the stage. He negotiates those stairs better than all the others...just watch him next time! A natural born stage star. Lee to win. :D
I thought Seamus had a good voice too and shouldn't have gone quite so early in the comp. Chris B should have stayed last week too, thought that was a bad choice by ALW. :(

I agree I found the Grease show, bloody awful  I think it was a very bad idea pairing them up so soon as well. I know they want to see the chemistry between the two, but unfortunately pairing them up so early can cause 'the best of a bad bunch' being eliminated because the girl was ok and the guy was not, or visa versa.
fedrules - May 14, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
After Saturday's show,I'm finding it harder to decide who should win. You're right that Lee is an obvious contender and certainly has the right looks for the role, but Keith's voice is impressing me more and more.I hadn't really rated Craig up until this week, but he sang so well on Saturday and was moving too.In my opinion,Lewis and Ben must be appealing to the teenage girls as I just can't think that either of them should win the part.
WimbledonAce - May 14, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
I too liked Seamus and was pretty surprised to see him go so early. Was a bit disappointed with his reaction to losing though - a little childish.
Keith has really come on vocally, he is pretty impressive, however I just don't see him as a Joseph.
I was glad to see the back of Chris B, could never see past those teeth I'm afraid :D
Lee is fab, I really like him and I think he deserves to do well.
Was surprised to see Lewis in the bottom 2 this week, I could really see him playing Joseph on the stage.
The one thing that irks me about this show is that they like to latch on to something and constantly go on about it - eg, Rob was the builder, Seamus was the oldest (hes only in his 30s!!), Lee has theatrical experience etc etc It's like they are trying to make you think certain things about them if you get what I mean.
Daniel is good but I find him slightly nauseating, he is just a bit naff for me!

It has to be Lee. How awesome was he on Saturday, totally blew me away. Looks like he has a good bod too ;)  which will help in the loin cloth scenes B)

It's true that Lewis is a winner in the eye candy department, but I'm not sure his voice or acting are strong enough.I know what you mean about Chris's 'Hollywood smile'.Do you think those teeth are real?!Of the remaining contenders, I think Lee is the obvious candidate-he has the best stage presence, looks and acting ability.Daniel has a good voice, but he's just not very charismatic.I'm really getting the feeling that Keith might end up winning though. You're right that Seamus looked pretty childish when he left the show, despite being so advanced in years!! :D

Agree with you about the 'Grease' show.Wouldn't pay West End prices to see any of them perform.Mind you Travolta and Olivia N-J weren't exactly great actors in that film and O.J.N couldn't dance particularly well either. Also watched 'Maria' show, but think Joseph one is more interesting as competition stronger. In 'M' Connie Fisher winning was more or less a foregone conclusion. Also I prefer watching men perform ;)

I agree, I dont; like Grease. The singing is bad and the acting isn't that good either. So seeing some cabaret style perfomances of it just makes it worse for me.

Presume you mean Jason and not David Gest.Thought Saturday's show was great, but this time Lee definitely outshone them all.My favourite performance otherwise was Ben's which surprises me.Wasn't too bothered to see Daniel go even though he was a good singer.I know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover but he just wasn't sexy enough to have star quality imo.

Hi Fed. I agree Lee was in a league of his own (although I could be biased, coz he is my fave anyway)
Was suprised to see Daniel in the bottom two as he does have a very good voice, although maybe not the charisma some of the others have.
If next week show is viewers votes only  then I think Lewis will be out. He doesn't quite do it for me, and although I know whe shouldn't go too much on appearance, his hair was a vast improvement to previous weeks. Keith maybe one of the other faves, but to me he still looks far to young for the role, and it was interesting that Denise said he was a 'boy' when acting out the seduction scene with her. Mind you, was suprised to see Lee, being one of the pro's, giggling during his acting scene.
fedrules - May 21, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Hi Mo.I thought the whole Denise seduction thing was a bit pointless and I'm sure Lee would manage any real acting scene fine.I reckon Lewis has got the hots for Denise which is why she found him the best actor.I imagine that next Saturday it will be goodbye to Craig or Lewis.Keith is rather boyish and probably wouldn't look as good in a loin cloth as the others, but he does have a phenomenal voice and is good at expressing emotion.

I agree Keith has a fine voice, some weeks better than others. I actually thought Lee might have had the hots for Denise, which is why he crumbled a little in the seduction department. But you're right, it doesn't bear much relevance in the scheme of things!. Now Keith in a loin cloth, that does worry me....bless him.

Thought Lewis was gone on Sat when he was against Daniel, glad ALW saved him again, phew :ok: His hair did look much better and I really like him!! Think he needs to put in a great performance this week though otherwise it's curtains. Glad Daniel went, he was too Will Youngish for me and singing evergreen was just too much :ill:
Keith was disappointing, he is usually pretty good but didn't deliver on brown eyed girl. Ben is improving but theres something about him I don't like - he seems a bit cocky.
Craig has to go, it's a shame but he has no charisma and I can't believe he has lasted this long.
Lee is fantastic, always s good. You just wonder if he is too good and won't get the votes in the end.
Can't wait for this week
As for the farce that is Grease - they are so scraping the barrel. Mixed up the couples which is totally unfair to those gone before and now next week they are performing on their own. I'd like to know what happened to those that bet on the winner as surely all bets must now be void?
timmadigan - May 21, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
okay, I don't follow these shows (because I don't get the Joseph one here in the states and the Grease one turns my stomach) but how does being able to sing Van Morrison ("Brown-Eyed Girl") have anything to do with being able to sing Lloyd Webber?
Why aren't they just singing '70-'90 musicals, primarily rock operas? There are enough of them to choose from, and some truely great songs.
 and I almost forgot.... Hi Miz Van Pelt :D
and now I have "I Like Your Style" from Barnum stuck in my head
WimbledonAce - May 21, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
Hehe hi Tim  They sing loads of different songs, not too often ones from musicals, I think it's to see how versatile they are and how they can act out the song. Some of the songs they have chosen have not been great though it has to be said.
On another note did anyone see David Gest lastnight and Malandra Burrows - Kathy from Emmerdale - so so wrong
styeffo - May 22, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
