Hello, everyone!
Wow, a thread about me - thank you!!
After being away for a while,I came back for the French Open - and then the evening before the Final, my husband had a stroke, which left him partially paralysed on his right side. He has made good progress at a rehab centre and is coming home on Wednesday. I have to admit to being a little apprehensive, but it'll be good to have him home even though my "freedom" will be comewhat curtailed Won't be able to leave him for long. But that will mean I 'll have more time to be on here :D
Come on Fed, do us proud! :yahoo:

Thanks a lot, Trisco and WA!
If the weather at Wimbledon is anything like it is here in DK, no one will be doing anyone proud today - it's chucking it down here :(

Hey Scolios :)
So sorry to hear you bad news. :( That must be devasting for both of you. Stroke is a terrible thing, I used to work for a couple of clients who'd had them and a lot of work is involved for the patient getting back to as full an ability as possible. It does soudn liek your husband is making good progress though, so I really hope he can keep this up. You look after yourself as well do you hear and if you have problems coping make sure you get help from the doctors and support organisations involved and don't make yourself ill as well.
Nice to see you back and hope to see you over Wimby if it ever stops raining. :) You take care and I wish your husband well.
trisco - June 25, 2007 11:46 AM (GMT)
SB, u summed up what I was trying to say there but I don't know enough regarding what happens when you have a stroke to be able to offer the words you did..
So, I'll say everything that SB just said too Scolios :D
Sincerely wish you both all the best.

Glad to be of some use for once :D I only know a bit because I've worked with a few people who've had strokes They can range from mild and leaving no disability afterwards to severe, like this guy I used to help out who ended up unable to walk, had trouble using his hands, was almost blind and had a slight mental disorder as well as his neurology was affected. Never affected his wit though, we used to have such a laugh writing complaints to social services and we used to watch his birds in the garden and chat about them. OH and it never affected his ability to chase the ladies either! He was always trying to chat up his carer and me - he asked for me to be his advoacte cos he said I was better looking than my boss the devil, but he coudl hardly see me so I was hardly flattered! roflmao
scolios - June 25, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks SB and Trisco
I have said yes please to all the help offered, which means a carer coming twice a day to help him get up and go to bed, a total of 3 hours 44 minutes a week (which works out at 32 minutes a day, believe it or not...). It's free (to my surprise) because it is considered to be permanent help (to my consternation!!). Anyway, we shall overcome!!
Henman is holding his own right now, so I'll go and watch. Go get 'im, Tim :yahoo:

So sorry to hear your news. Hope that the recovery process for your husband will be a complete one (or as close as possible to that). Hope also that you are both well otherwise and in good spirits.

Hi Scolios  only just seen this :( Sorry to hear the news about your dear hubby and glad to hear he will be home where he belongs very soon. You can always keep his spirits up by sitting him in front of wimbers and getting him to cheer on Tim till finals day ;) .....and of course you can continue to spread your support between Fed and your 'new found fondness' for Tim. :D and if you need some extra cheer, you know where we are. Take care and best wishes to you both.
SerenaW19 - June 27, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
