Title: What if's?
Federer-Williams - April 26, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
i know it's no use to have what if's but here we go. I will try to think of all the majors I think Serena SHOULD have won.
Despite her 2004 form which was way off 02-03 the US was there for the taking! Also despite losing to rival jCAP at the french in 04 that could have been another makeable tournament.
Some would say 04 Wimby but Sharapova's win in the final was comprehensive and the fault of a dissapointing Serena.
2000 Wimbledon was also makeable if she didn't break down completely in that semi with Venus.
But just think in 04 she could have won 2-3 slams increasing her tally and giving her another Serena slam when she won 05 Ao....anyway nevermind lol

IMO she should NEVER have won AO 2005. But i agree she should have won more by now. Lets hope her aura is back where you cant imagine her losing ANY tournament. She has certainly delivered so far this season :D

I think it was a shame that Serena didn't win a slam at all in 2004 :(
FO could've won it, or at least Venus and Capriati should've taken advantage of the weakened draw to get their first respective slams in several years.
Wimbledon, had Serena's name written all over it, but she mucked up :(
USO, now Serena's form in this was probably better than the other slams, and I feel she shoud've gotten to the final but probably would've lost to Lindsay (had she made it) who was in the form of her life.
AO no-one really jumped out at you, but Serena gritted out the victory and obviously deserved it, with some sweet revenge against Davenport and Sharapova in the process :D

I was dancing round the sofa at one point during that AO final (i was a BIG Davenport fan at the time) and it took a couple of weeks for it to sink in that she had lost

Even the third set bagel didn't convince you it might be over?
Well I was so happy Serena won the AO after all her heart break in 2004 :D
The rest of the year was :bs: though

:( It was Mary pierce........ 2005 .....such a year..pure magic...looking fit and all...... she should have won at least...one of the slams.......at least one....the easiest time ... :(

I agree she should I think have won atleast one in 04 despite subpar form.

I think Serena's whole career will be defined more by what she hasn't achieved than what she has. She has so much ability and gifts and squanders them through sheer lazyness and indifference. She has a level of popularity which she doesn't deserve.
She 'claims' to be religious but if this is her answer to what to do with her god given talents, then shame on her.

What in ignorant post.
How can you define the career of someone who has already achieved so much at 25 years of age by what they haven't done? That's just stupid. There will always be what if's but they don't define your career. And they won't define Serena's.
And as someone who is religious I find your comments on Serena's religion quite preposterous. To use her faith as a weapon to attack for what you perceive as laziness is nothing short of utterly disgraceful.

Of course you can define someones career by what they havn't done, she has obviousley achieved a lot, but not as much as she should, some people would kill for what she has, but they never get the chance-to have so much and so so little-that is the point i am making.
I don't believe she is religous, i am, and know you can never do what she has and say you believe in god, it doesn't make sense.

Serena, i mean this in a caring way, but i think you are clearly an obsessed fan and do not see the truth of what is there before you, that's your choice, i am being objective.

What are you suggesting Serena has done?
She isn't perfect, which of us are? but that doesn't discount you from being a believer, i don't believe in God, but have known many people, who were far from being saints who had genuine faith, your post seems to imply she has done something terrible
metaphysical - May 2, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
they way she is both on court and off, remember her attitude with regard to other players, they way she used to behave with hingis etc etc

you still haven't said why she cannot be genuinely religious, you seem to imply that imperfect behaviour negates the possibility of being religious, that's an absurd idea, and shows theological ineptitude.

Your an idiot! How many theists kill in the 'name of religion' and Serena's behaviour on a tennis court is now scrutinised to indicate she cannot be religious?
And what behaviour are you telling us about? You might remember Hingis said some pretty bad things about the WS as well.
Her legacy will also be remembered by her acheivements and struggles. People say she is lazy but when so? She played all 2004 won a GS in 2005 then got INJURED till late 2006. She also dealt with her sister's death, court cases and has battled through ALOT.
She also manages to retain outside interests as well as maintaining her status as WTA highest acheiver and unofficial best player - hardly lazy!

Serena has never killed anyone, but her off court behaviour leave a lot to be desired.

Your message board behaviour leaves still more to be desired.

I am a fan of Serenas, she has done much for the game.
Serena has many qualities and i admire her strength. but i find muscles on a women very unattractive. Martina Navratilova was another one, and though she always seemed outwardly pleasent, you couldn't help notice that side of things had got out of hand.
I'm not a feminist but think women have taken things a little too far!-maybe maria sharapova is a good example of a more feminine women, though i find her screaching during matches very unattractive.
i still think giving women the vote was a good idea, but things have gone too far
