Title: Nalbandian to beat Nadal on clay!!!!
Description: ....in Barcelona

Tenez - April 26, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
Am I wrong to think Naby can and will do beat Nadal on clay this week? If they meet of course......

This long awaited match is one set and a match away now (never been that close as Nalbandian is one set up against Moya).

I fancy Nalbandian to win.....you would have read it first here!

 Maybe if Nadal injures himself.

Don't underestimate the power of donuts! They are Nalby's Popey's spinash.

I can't see Nalbandian getting a set to be honest. Unless he does indeed somehow master donut power.

Forget Nadal, can Nalby beat Ferrer? H2H on clay is 3-0 to the Spaniard, who plays a similar but much less effective game to Nadal. ;)

If he does get past Ferrer, he could give Nadal some trouble I agree. He was annihilating Fed in the French Open semi last year until he got injured, and he clearly has good clay pedigree. Unfortunately, even if he played to a high level, I'd see Nadal simply outfighting him in 3 sets. Otherwise, routine straight sets victory to the King of Clay.

I can actually see Nalbandian beating Nadal if on form. He is excellent at returning, putting pace and has strong BH and FH.

A parallel would be Mecir / Wilander Match with Nalby being Miloslav.

I am really hoping for an encounter. Many could be surprised....including Nadal.

Ask Moya! He is ordering half a dozen right now. roflmao

Nalbandian couldnt beat an egg atm, unless beating that egg helped with the making off the donuts, then im sure he would have no probs. GOOO NADALLLLLL

nalbandian has totally fallen off the radar. nadal will handle him no problem.

and it is nice to see that nadal has brought liam to his knees roflmao

Not today.

Probably due to food poisoning. The Donuts were not very fresh.

He was number 3 in the world and not so long ago played really well in the DC final!

Nalbandian is actually going backwards - unless he regains confidence/belief he will never be a contender again. He gives in too easily for my liking.

With those sort of qualities it's inconceivable Nalbandian could beat Nadal in any situation unless Nadal has a real off day.

Nalbandian is a player who is not easy to predict (except when it comes to donut ordering ;) ) Often I've assumed he's on his way out of a match, and he claws his way back in. Something of a comeback king. If he were to do anything against Nadal - which I'm not convinced he can - I think he'd have to go down a set first. Strange logic - I'm thinking out loud again!

Ferrer is doing pretty well. Someone said not long ago that he was an "invisible seed" who was coming to the fore more and more. I agree with that, from being a floater - he's actually starting to put his mark on a few matches.
