an uninspired round of fed cup action, bar the actual participation of both williams sisters.

anyone, when did that last happen??

9mmSuzi - April 22, 2007 11:58 AM (GMT)
: :coffee: Great news to have the sisters back... But I think the Russians will be pretty tough to beat.... hopefully it should turn out to be a great tournament..... no injuries ..

I'm sorry but this is getting a little boring...

"King, ranked 83rd in the world, came into the US team after Serena Williams was forced to pull out with an inflamed right knee. "
If Serena can't be arsed she can't be arsed but retire already....
If this continues she is making a mockery of the game... The WTA must know this, yeah we are interested in her comeback but only if she puts the effort in like the rest of the girls... maybe she can come back and beat the lot of them, that says how talented she is but... it doesn't gain her any respect when she plays hardly any tournaments and shows a complete disrespect for the sport that has made her who she is. We moan abut Clijsters and her retirmement but at least she has the manners to say "I have had enough and would rather be doing something else"

Grrrr..
I hope Serena proves me wrong..

In fact, I am that annoyed I shall create a seperate thread! lol

I think I got all the winners right but I wasn't expecting so many whitewashes!

USA v Russia will be a big match - in the US I think and probably on hard court. If Venus & Serena both turn up fit they should win it but Russia is the one team I can see possibly beating a full strength USA.

France v Italy. With Mauresmo back in the team this should go France's way.

Good win for the Czech's though the matches were closer than the overall score suggests - hope to see them in the world group next year.

Nice to see Groenefeld win a few matches to lead Germany through.

Looks like Wozniak's Fed Cup record took a bit of a hit! Pretty easy for Israel winning the first 3 matches.

Disaster for the Aussies - they really got thrashed. With Paszek & Bammer both playing well the Austrian's look to have a formidable team once more.

SerenaW19 - April 23, 2007 10:10 AM (GMT)
The Austrians really surprised me with how well they played :)

Im not too confident about Venus or Serena playing in the next tie as it's the week after Wimbledon I think and Serena is scheduled to play Cincinatti. So unless they both go out early in Wimbledon it seems unlikely they would play there. Certainly seems very unlikely Serena will :(

Saying that, it's only two days to commit to so you never know...

lol did anyone see gb's results. they won 3-0 against bulgaria, then lost 2-1 to luxembourg then lost 3-0 to poland  seems they need some consistency, or maybe the backup players aren't good enough

liam_valid - April 23, 2007 01:27 PM (GMT)
What the Hell happened to China????? So much thought and planning about their team, then they get whitewashed :o serves them right really (sorry Jack ;) )
