Very funny, thanks! roflmao roflmao roflmao

I just went to M&S actually, I've gone right off that cheese scone I just ate, I bet it wasnt; just any old cheese scone but a hand rolled on the floor cheese scone with special urine topping :D

I reckon all shops are as bad you know, I used to work for British Hoem Stores Foodhall and several people were not so hygienic with foods on the deli. I never eat anything made by Pork Farms either - pasties, sausage rolls, pies etc. Being form Nottingham I know several folk who have worked in the factory and staff regularly take a piss in the mix that goes into the pasties. i used to think this was an urban myth until my mate got a temp job there and told me all abotu it :o

Marx was right, the proletariat get alienated form the fruits of their labour and lose satisfaction. This drives them to piss in the Cornish pasty and pie mix :D

I'm th eopposite. i hate admitting to shopping there, if you go in ours it is just full of the most awfully snooty and rude people on the planet. All old middle class people and, ahem, working class snobs! :D Some of the prices are just ridiculous, some of the food is great, some is average and a few things not that good. I use it when I want quick ready prepared stuff and want to treat guests etc and cant; eb arsed to cook myself. It does seem to have one of the best ready meals sections. It's mainly convenince though, cos it's 10 mins walk form my house and quite small so not a hassle to get round. If I want a big supermarket we have to drive, but M&S is just so close.

Oh and when travelling, the M&S outlets in service stations are the best and cheapest place for food. Very handy.

I still hate their ads mind! roflmao

Btw, M&S was a Jewish company started in maybe late 1800s/early 20C by two guys who had a market stall in London :) They grew from that into a shop, then the rest is history.

I would throughly recommend their Oakham free rnage chickens, they really are tasty and due to bird flu scares often half price per kilo or have money off! They are superb raosted, great in stews etc. Much better than any other supermarket chain free range chicken. The stewing beef is rubbish though, my butcher does better for less money. For Jewish origin company though, the bagels are not very good! I make better myself roflmao

Hey Serena :D

I would not say it is 100% fantastic, and you get sick of any stuff that is supermarket pre prepared. Bizarrely, some of it is better value than other places, some is just too expensive for what it is, liek veggies. It's a good shop to top up on treats, but a bad oen to do your weekly shop cost wise. I shop everyhwere me :D

Oh yeah I was only thinking of treats, Im a student can't afford to do my shopping in M&S on a regular basis  roflmao

I suppose it's good to shop around, here on campus the only shop we have is costcutter, which is a total oxymoron

Yeah I went to Costcutter down Devon last week, total shite stuff at expensive prices. That's the trouble here, I dont; drive so have to use M&S, Sainsburys (longer walk and I always need a cab as I buy too much, and tescos is a metro with loads of office lunch stuff and nto much else and horrendous queues. I actually make the odd trip to budget shops like Lidl, you coudl never do your whole shop there as any pre prepared stuff is vile and not much meat choice, but they do have very cheap veg and if you go the right day it's good for that. Also good for basic tinned stuff like tomatoes. As it's German they do reasonable continetal cheeese at mine for cheap prices, like a lot of Dutch stuff which George likes being quarter Dutch and living there for a few years.

Thing is it's time and transport to visit lots of places for the best stuff and prices. They get us on convenice every time. :(

the thing is, is it that more expensive? I got some asparagus last week and it was £1.89. The asparagus in Somerfield was £2.15. There was slightly more in the Somerfield pack, but it looked mangy. I think as long as you are not used to shopping at ALDI, M & S is more affordable than people make out.

I like it.

I like the adverts with the sound off - the food looks lush.

I like their sandwiches over all others.

I like lots of their food.

so there :P

Somerfield is not good from my experience. I think some things at M&S are ok for the price, but if you do all your shop there, the staples are expensive and it is just stupid to do so. I pop in for good meat or treats. I gnerally find the veg very expensive. I got sme purple stemmed broccolli for 50 per cent more cost than tescos and it was not as good. Shop around as your mamma would say. :D
