Is it necessary on clay?I mean even though the ball leaves a distinct mark,is it needed?

Are they using HE to check mark?
I think the only time it can be useful is when there is a doubt about wich mark to consider. Then it woudl be interesting to see how precise HE is.
Clay must be the best testing tool for HE (I still have my doubts over its accuracy).

Ask Hingis
Dark_Necrofear - April 17, 2007 12:24 PM (GMT)
Why ask Hingis Barrystar?
I agree with Tenez here...Clay is the perfect test for accuracy. However I wont Ask Mauresmo we all know what happened to her!

I thought that Hingis believed that Graf had pointed to the wrong clay mark in the infamous RG 1999 final.

Indeed and that is what I had in mind when I mentioned the use of HE in my previous post.
The day Steffi disappointed me!...for ever.
But let's not go there....;)

We call this "selective" memory Darky!

I actually think this match had an huge effect on Martina's career and the cause of her early loss in Wimbledon that year.
Nevermind. This is history!
Dark_Necrofear - April 17, 2007 01:17 PM (GMT)
No serious Tenez I honestly dont remember her pointing.I have it on DVD,Im going to go home and check it out after work!
That match did change Martinas career coz it tainted her image as a brat! She didnt win another grandslam after that year! Its actually sad!
But nevertheless I grew to love Martina after that year!

Forgive me buddy SerenaW19...I have just bought the 4th Season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer to add to my 1st 3 and Im engulfed in the lingo...I love that series and I love Sarah Michelle...
But Im glad I humour you,but I had to defend Steffi there like I would Defend Serena even though she pulled fake menstrual cramps in her Aussie Open Quarter final 2000 when Hingis beat her 8-6.... ;)

It was 2001 ;)
And I will stick up for Steffi if need be as well, but she blamed her 1989 FO Final loss on menstrual cramps as well :P

It was 01 I always mix that year up!The difference is my friend,Steffi lost and was having her monthly.Serena, the minute she got in front the pain somewhat disappeared! But nevertheless,it was a great match and no1 deserved to lose, but just like the Higlander THERE CAN BE ONLY 1....

Steffi was as bad in '99 as Henin was in '03
SerenaW19 - April 19, 2007 09:59 AM (GMT)
In all fairness though Hingis was a bit of a brat in 1999 and was asking for it to a certain extent. What had poor Serena ever done to warrant such coldness from Justine

I was just reading some quotes from Juju after the match with Serena:
QUOTE
She wasnt very happpy, but that is sport, that is tennis
QUOTE
shes had lots of chances recently, its about time she gave others a chance
And she also said that the atmosphere and crowd were great, which is just wrong by anyones standards. But I believe Steffi showed sportsmanship in that final too. Which is totally off topic
Yes, hawkeye should be used on clay, as i believe mistakes have been made on clay in the past just like on any other surface
SerenaW19 - April 19, 2007 10:20 AM (GMT)
I know  She contradicts herself really by saying "that's sport" but then complaining about how Serena's been winning everything. Well "that's sport" as well Justine
Seeing as I haven't commneted on it yet, I do think hawkeye on clay is a good idea, as aforementioned you can have problems and to be consistent accross the board as well :)
Dark_Necrofear - April 19, 2007 12:08 PM (GMT)
Imagine if the mark shows out and Hawkeye shows in! :o
