Title: Henman v Ferrero
Description: Monte Carlo

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:10 PM (GMT)
just looked in and five all - though thats the beeb updates - does anyone have a more up to date scoreboard (the beeb is always behind) or a livestream for this game that wont cost me?

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:12 PM (GMT)
got the scoreboard up now from MC - Henman on verge of being broken...

update - Henman just been broken - Ferrero serving for first set...

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
and thats the first set to Ferrero...

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:21 PM (GMT)
second set up and running with Henman holding onto his serve for the first game.

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
and a love game for JCF....

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:24 PM (GMT)
pebsy websy, have you got the livescore from monte carlo website? thats what i have got :) Cant believe Tim lost the 1st set! He had break point 40-30 when he was 4-3 up aswell and he also had break point at 3-2 up too but couldnt take either of them :( :(

1-1 now 2nd set, I dont think this is looking too good for tim, he doesen't wanna get into long sets with Ferrero because theres only likely to be one winner on Clay.

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:27 PM (GMT)
2-1 Ferrero just broken Tim, thats it then as far as im concerned, theres no way Tim's gunna win this match now :( what rotten luck to draw Ferrero in the 1st round aswell!

hey hun

yep, just watching a scoreboard, and whilst my back was turned, JCF broke Tim again - dont think hes going to be winning this one somehow.... :(

missed the start as not long been back from work - and half wishing I was missing it altogether!

never mind, its still early for Tim - hes had next to no match practice and I just think this year is going to be a slow burner for him.

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:30 PM (GMT)
looks like another love game for JCF - I suspect hes got right into his groove and may even run away with this now if Tims not careful.

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
a better game from Tim there it would seem :) a tiny flicker of hope sparked....

ever the optimist me :D

Mo aka Mz O'Hara - April 16, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
I cant get on any website at the mo, except this one. Please tell me Tim is fighting back

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Yeah its not good Pebs :( :( im dreading it when he goes to Rome, He got to the 3rd round last year so he has 75 points to defend  and what about when he goes to Queens! hes got 100 points to defend there and if he gets a bad draw he might be out in the early stages.

and then near the end of the year Tokyo aswell... He got to the final last year and I can't see him doing that again so he will drop lots of points again :(

hard to tell from a scoreboard hun, but I dont see a Tim win here....

but keep it crossed

yep, his injuries at start of year could land up costing him quite dearly this year... as he loses points and ranking hes coming up against the big guns earlier and earlier and it just gets more painful....

and with another love game for JCF - this isnt one where hes gonna come back I reckon.

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:36 PM (GMT)
another service game to love from Ferrero!!! thats 3 in a row, fliiiiiippin heck theres no stopping him.

Tim has got 6 aces so far and Ferreros got 0 yet he keeps winning service games with ease!

Very :( I thought maybe Tim was injured thats why Ferrero keeps winning service games to love but Tims banging down aces still and is winning points on his own serve so he cant be injured surely?

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
adv for Henman then deuce again....

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
bugger

Hi Pebs. Afraid the first set was typical Henman; he was looking in good shape and was the better player, but he missed his chances and then came the sucker punch :( Now Ferrero's upped his game and looks to be on the verge of a fairly comfortable victory.

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
5-2 Ferrero, Bye bye for another tournament for Tim *crys*

Mo aka Mz O'Hara - April 16, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
:o oh dear, I really cant bear this today. I'll come back later. :(

Hi Wise - thanks for that.

hate knowing Henman started off good and then shags it up again... JCF is winning his games with ease now - so yep, he should be comfortable here.

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:45 PM (GMT)
2 match points....

Pebs - April 16, 2007 02:46 PM (GMT)
and taken.

well done to JCF  I had heard he'd not been too well of late - so nice for him to ease on by Henman...

and bugger. Henman needs to start winning!

Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 16, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
dear oh dear oh dear oh dear, another missed opportunity for Tim! I cant see him defending his 75 points in Rome thats for sure, so he is no doubt going to drop down the rankings again, he will probably be about 70th by the time Wimbledon comes around :(

It was a relatively unlucky draw for Henman, but Ferrero's hardly been setting the world alight recently, so it was certainly winnable.

Still, he played well in the first set and really should have won it. Given that he's returned from a long injury lay-off and hasn't had much match practice, his performance is just as important as the actual result, as clichéd as it sounds. I'd be much more worried if he was looking rusty or unfit, which in the first set he certainly wasn't. Although I haven't caught so much of the second.

hes got 100 points to defend at Queens Pebs :( say he doesent defend them... then he will drop down quite a way and if he goes out in the first round at Rome he will drop about 4-5 places most probably.

Say for arguements sake Tim loses first roiund at Queens... That means he drops about 95 points and he will go down about 7-10 places

yep, good points. Obviously you cant tell from watching a scoreboard how a player is looking so its good to hear you say that he wasnt looking too rusty. My main fear after the start of the year was that he wasnt going to be able to get into it for the year - but maybe, if he could just get a good run, he might be able to pull it back by the end of the year.

Hope springs eternal for Henman fans - we know how to take our positives! :)

lets not say that! - it depresses me - and given its the day after I had to give my poorly cat up and the same day I went back to work - cheering up is what I am after!

Awwwwwwww Pebs :( I dont like to be pessimistic but I am just worried that if he carried on going out in the 1st round in tournies he will keep slowly sliding down the rankins and I dont want him to do what Greg did and slip out of the top 100 then just keep sliding!

I am usually very optimistic about Tim but im not looking forward to Rome because he has to win 2 matches to defend his points and if he gets another stinking draw I wont be happy :(

Ark, either you are the most ardent supporter of whoever Henman plays, or you couldn't give a damn about 'em but just try and get a reaction from people whith your gloating? Wonder which it is

Well done JCF *Attempts to raise a smile*
