Title: Naughty Andre
trisco - April 16, 2007 09:59 AM (GMT)
Steffi Graf required three stitches after husband Andre Agassi accidentally hit her in the face with his racket during a fundraising event in Houston.
Graf and Agassi were holding hands - her left to his right - while rallying with a couple of youngsters when his follow-through struck her in the face.

Her cut lip was stitched by a doctor who had paid to play with the couple at the US Clay Court Championships.
Agassi said: "It was an unfortunate accident, but she's okay."
Agassi and Graf were in Texas as part of a US TV reality show called 'The Big Give,' an upcoming Oprah Winfrey production.
An auction benefiting an elementary school in the Houston vicinity chosen for the show raised at least $225,000 on Sunday.
Agassi retired last year at the US Open, having won eight Grand Slam titles.
His German wife retired in 1999 with 22 Grand Slam titles to her name. The couple has two children and live in Las Vegas.

I saw that too. He was playing with his left hand, so I guess it is a bit understandable.
His description of the accident is rather formal - perhaps she did not find it too funny. They should look on the bright side, he might have made her conk a bit smaller.
On another note - she was undoubtedly the more successful tennis player, but who do people think is the bigger "star" of the two of them?

On the bigger "star" issue...
I think back in the day when Steffi was playing, it would be extremely difficult to say but I think it is easy to now say Andre is the bigger star as Stef ain't been in the spotlight much.
Obviously in America, Andre would win hands down but I thinkworldwide, maybe they were on a par?

I think since 1999 Andre is certainly the bigger star. And will always be, as he has courted the media while Steffi shied away from it, even when she was world number one.
I think late eighties early nineties Steffi was the more well known on an international scale.

I tend to agree and would make two points:
a. Agassi has always been more of a media person than Graf
b. I think there is a perception that Agassi has 'done more for tennis'. Graf was outstanding, but the perception is that she concerned herself pretty much exclusively with being the best tennis player. Agassi was not as good a player, but his reach seems to have been wider. He also provided much-needed personality during an otherwise weak era for tennis personalities :o, and some sort of a rivalry for Sampras.
As Agassi himself puts it about Graf - she has always been a quiet doer, not a talker.

A conk? Ah no, Barry! You are too simple.
Why, you might have said -- Oh a great many things! Mon dieu, why waste your opportunity? For example, thus:
AGGRESSIVE: Steffi, if that nose were mine, I'd have it amputated - on the spot!
FRIENDLY: How do you drink with such a nose? You ought to have a cup made specially.
DESCRIPTIVE: 'Tis a rock - a crag - a cape - A cape? say rather a peninsula!
INQUISITIVE: What is that receptacle - A razor-case or a portfolio?
KINDLY: Ah, do you love the little birds so much that they come and sing to you, you give them this to perch on?
INSOLENT: Lady, when you smoke, the neighbours must suppose your chimney is on fire.
ENTERPRISING: What a sign for some perfumer!
SIMPLE: When do they unveil the monument?
