And Bagdhatis is out!!!
Is he still injured? what's happening? his confidence seems very low.

Tenez, are you using Internet Explorer 7?

I need a favour if possible, could you click the Live Scoreboard from the Monte Carlo website, then at the top of the window that pops up, you get the web address, could you copy and paste it in a PM for me please? Much appreciated if you can. :D

Gabashvili lost against Seppi, so Federer will face the Italian in his first match.
I think a match against an in-form qualifier, with three matches under his belt, is always dangerous. However, I don't see Seppi giving Fed serious trouble. But Roger will have to be careful.

Might be worth having a link to the
Live Scores in this thread anyway!

Cheers MJT, that is what I needed. :D Thanks... Only got IE6 at work.

oh thanks for that. Was trying to get results up but was failing. Thats a shocker though :(

Luzzi 5-3 now serving for the first set...Am I not dreaming Right???
Nalbi what are you doing???
Tenez - April 16, 2007 10:54 AM (GMT)
But when looking at it, both Nalby and Bagdhatis have had pretty poor results over the last 5 or 6 months. It is just a trend that continues and maybe getting worse (though Nalbandian is not out yet, we know how he can suddenly "wake up" once he has a MP against him).

Not coincidentally, Baghdatis and Nalbandian are both known for unfortunately possessing a dodgy work ethic and suspect fitness levels to go along with the extraordinary talent. I hope the Cypriot doesn't go down the same road as the Argentine, reaching a Slam final early on but never quite following it up with similar results, leaving everyone to wonder where it all went south.
At any rate, Nalbandian was just engaging in his risky habit of playing himself into form at the big tournies, and has reasserted control, taking the second set comfortably 6-2. I doubt he'll be troubled for the remainder of the match. Is it too much to hope that that he and Nadal will finally play each other in a blockbuster QF?

:ok: On the spot... :ok:
Indeed Nalbi was able to turn around...Nice win at the end: This is great :P ..I really want to see a max of big names against Rafa ;)
MrInvisible - April 16, 2007 12:22 PM (GMT)
Good post Manzikert, although I didn't know that Baghdatis also had a reputation for being lazy.
I tell you what Nalbandian needs - a new coach, a slave-driver type who'll push him hard, and make him tone up - someone with a Brad Gilbert type work ethic. I don't know much about Nalbandian's current coaching set-up, but I would guess that its someone who doesn't really push him and get the most work out of him.
I honestly believe that if he had the right preparation, and was pushed hard enough he could win a slam sometime during his career, but time is passing, and the younger players, like Djokovic and Murray, are starting to overtake him.
Going back to Baghdatis, he doesn't do so well on clay, does he? I'm not expecting great things of him on the red stuff this year - but he could get through a few rounds again at Wimbledon.

Andy and Jamie lost the first set 7-6 in doubles then retired!
Anybody know what happened?
Please god don't be a bad injury!
Manzikert - April 17, 2007 08:22 AM (GMT)
Apparently Andy was suffering back spasms. It's in some doubt whether he can take the court today, an unfortunate way to start off one's first week in the Top 10.
The Scot is certainly injury-prone, isn't he.
Dinky Jo - April 17, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
I personally don't think that Jamie should play doubles with Andy, on the basis that Andy is always going to make singles his priority, therefore is not going to risk his singles performance by playing in doubles with an injury!
Dinky Jo - April 17, 2007 09:57 AM (GMT)
According to BBC News, Andy Murray is expected to confirm his withdrawal from the Monte Carlo Masters. Apparently he has put a note on his website saying that there's no way he will be playing today, due to a back injury!
Tennisveritas - April 17, 2007 10:18 AM (GMT)
Meanwhile Gasquet is doing is usual job: i.e. create a lot of problems to himself...He started by losing his first serve...Then he was able to fight back to then lose another time the serve...and now he is losing 5-3 on serve in the first set...Richard please weak up you are a very good player...man... :( :( ..At the end you are boring...
Tennisveritas - April 17, 2007 10:20 AM (GMT)
5-4 for Verdasco on serve for the first set...Richard take back this stupid serve...Come on break for once when matter more

Murray has withdrawn from Monte Carlo :(
Awesome_Agassi - April 17, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
Stupid Safin  :bs: . He wasted 4 match points in that 2nd set, plus he was a break up in the 3rd set before once again throwing away his advantage. The guy simply cannot string 2 consecutive victories together at the moment.
Dinky Jo - April 17, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
Safin!!!! 6-0 in the first set too!
dl04 - April 17, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Safin
WTF happened :(
Awesome_Agassi - April 18, 2007 01:50 PM (GMT)
A stunning start to the claycourt season for Nadal. His backhand looks menacing, his volleys have more bite to them and his serve is looking increasingly like a dangerous weapon. Very impressive indeed. Nadal usually is rusty at the start of tournaments and gets better and better as it runs it's course. This time he has come speeding out of the blocks. Let's see if he can keep this up.
