Title: RG
Description: A RG to forget?

Has this just been one of the most forgettable French Open's in recent years. The quality throughout the tournament IMO was flat, there was hardly any BIG suprises, especially in the mens where predictability took a whole new level up with the 4 top seeds in the semi-finals. The only high point in the mens was possibly the final, but again the match focused around tension, not quality.
The Women's event lost its intruige when the likes of venus went out, as we all knew who would win it then. There was zero classics in the draw, with the only good match coming from Sharapova vs Safina in round two. Hingis went out earlier than most expected and Kim produced a flat display. All in all a really dissapointing RG for all concerned i feel, mens and womens event.
Does anyone else feel the same or am i just voicing a lone opinion?

I totally agree dl. As I said to Dav yesterday, I didn't get the buzz I normally get from a Slam.
There wasn't a single truly great match (Nadal v Mathieu was probably the standout though, along with the final I guess), and the tournament as a whole was predictable.
The women's event really disappointed me. I thought Justine would win it from the start, but there was little resistance as the big names fell in mediocre performances. Kim stuttered her way into the semis with a couple of poor displays, Hingis seemed worn out by the time she reached her quarter final, Mauresmo against failed under the pressure, and Venus was uninspiring against Vaidisova. Too many errors overall, even on clay.
Hopefully Wimbledon can bring the season back to life, particularly on the women's side (last year's event was incredible).

If only venus was in the final! :( I know i'm biased but i really thought venus could've fired the tourny up a bit like last year when Pierce broke through. It would have been nice to get past the Belgian dominance in GS finals....

I was all built up for the mens final, but it was almost a relief to get it over. The adrenaline never got going for me.

The man's final was dissappinting, as it never got going and Fed did not bring his best to the court today. It was perhaps over hyped, but I think people had a right to expect better. And I think most peopel will be dissappointed that history was not made today.
The women's was not great, but I though the star of the show was Vaidisova, watch out for her. And also Safina beatign Shara was great to see.
I think the FO was dull in week one, and then picked up massively last weekend, but as soon as that was over it was quite boring. I felt that there were TOO MANY mantche son last weekedn, so we missed lots as they can only televise a few, and then there was nothign left for this week really. It's the first tiem I have seen much of the FO and I was nto exactly delighted and excited. And if Nadal's performance today is as good as it gets, i guess I dont; liek clay much!
My fave match was Mathieu v Nadal and Sharapova v Safina.
