I am sure we have all seen that Roddick is no longer playing, but shame for him.
Like he says though, with a change of surface he is probably doing the right thing getting fit first.
He's tends to do quite well here though, so he must be gutted. Hope he returns to action soon.

thanks!
Yes, was mildly surprised to see Fish out - he's been having a reasonable run of form.
No surprises with Haas!

Karlovic is into the final, with a convincing 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Spaniard Montanes, no mean thing on clay. :P But the main thing is that he managed to follow up his nice win over Haas with another, and has now reached finals across three surfaces (hard court, grass and clay). Of course, winning them is the thing, but he's faced class players in them (Roddick and Murray).
I think the Croat is in with a shout against either potential opponent. Even if Blake gets through against Zabaleta (not a sure thing, since another Argentine--Buenos Aires titlist Monaco--gave him a tough fight last round, and the former Top 30 player took out defending champion Fish and is in the midst of aiming for a Caņas-like run at the rankings after an injury layoff), Karlovic took him out en route to his San Jose runner-up finish, and can draw confidence from that. The American is still far from steady, although the Davis Cup victories seem to have given him a new lease on life.

Well, Zabaleta beat Blake in what looks like a tight couple of sets. Doubtless the anti-Blake/ 'weak era' folk will be sharpening their knives over this one..
A bit of a setback for Blake, but really just a minor one. He can push the best of claycourters on his day. I thought that his dismantling of Almagro at RG last year was one of the most impressive of his performances.
So.. Zabaleta v Ivo. Golden opportunity for Ivo to win the tourney here. His serving seems especially brutal. I think that I read that he served 4 consecutive aces to win his semi final..! :yikes:
I'd have thought that Ivo Karlovic Fan would have resurfaced on CC about this one..

So true. That was really impressive. The way he returned Almagros' serve on his BH was something likea new shot for me on clay. I was convinced he could have handled Rafa on clay too. He had no problem with the high bounces on his BH side. If it was not for Monfils and in particular the French crowd who knows what he could have done.
