Title: Pretenders Beware
Description: A Warning Of Note From Serena!
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 08:36 AM (GMT)
If anyone at this stage is looking like an idiot it has to be Pat Cash. The man at the beginning of the year really talked Serena down and now she has entered just 2 events this year and woe and behold she has 2 of the biggest titles the year has had to offer thusfar!
Not only was she doing a lot of talking but now her tennis is walking the talk!Another routine demolishen of Ball bashing Clone Maria "The Cheat" Sharapova and then a display of never say die I have a bone to pick with you Justine display of gritt and will earned her the title.
Now with some order finally being restored the WTA,Serena has sent a huge message to the rest of the field. IM BACK and will be better than ever. Her return has also ignited some fire in sister Venus and expect her to also get some momentum going! She was unfortunate to have drawn Masha early on,but this is what happens when your ranking isnt up to scratch.Nevertheless she lost with a fight!
Its time to ship out the pretenders and bring in the women that mean business and add proper tennis value to the WTA.No more pretty ball bashing clones,we want fight.gritt and will.Such that can only be displayed by Justine,Serena and Venus!
Bring it on!Order must be restored!

Flamming heck dark, I would love to go and watch a match with you. You sound pumped up. And yes, Courier and his boyfriend Pat cash look very stupid.
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
You would have a blast at a tennis match with me my friend especially when Im watching my favourites play because I take it personally!
Courier is another clown that really talks wind and the hurricane type full of rubbish.Serena may talk big but she has the tennis to back her up!

I read that thread on my daily visits to the BBC and was really tempted to post coz I agree with most of whats theer. But I like the Willaims who will never go to Indian Wells Will not post on that joke board they call 606!
Its quite funny though that Courier predicts such crap!We wont even go theer with Pat Cash who for some Odd reason believes him winning Wimbledon.....ONCE makes him a tennis GOD of Knowledge!
What goes through the minds of these has beens?
Im gonna finance a show called Desperate Hasbeens! All from ATP and WTA Lane...Im sure it will be agreat Rival to the housewives from Wisteria Lane!

It will indeed be interesting to see how long it will be before the sore knee /hip /thigh /bum /neck /chest /elbow /wrist /flu strikes again.
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
She already had a knee injury at Miami...
SerenaW19 - April 2, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
Clearly the pessimists would love for Serena to get injured or have to withdraw from tournaments just so they could have the pleasure of gloating.
Of course true WTA fans want more great battles like the Miami Final :)
It seems not everyone has got Serena's message yet! :D

I find it sad that someone is not a tennis player but hopes for her to get injured. It doesnt even affect you directly.
She is not stupid I am sure she knows how she got injured the last time and vigilant.
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 01:37 PM (GMT)
SerenaW19,I never doubted her from the time she was at the Aussie Open and this you know. You had some doubts back at that tournament but I knew she wasnt kidding and Im sure Venus will be a threat soon enough!
The pessimists that want her to get injured need to get a grip. That girl is pure fire and the battle at Miami is not even close to what she is still going to produce along with Venus!

Whoever these people are screw them!!! I hate people that are like that.I dont like Rafael Nadal but I would never want him to get injured. That is callous and shallow!

If they are the pessimists Dark, then we surely are the optimists. And so far this year we've been proved right, it's looking like a great year for the Williams, Justine and tennis in general :yahoo:
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
Im more a realist and call a spade a spade.I read between the lines and thats a fact!
Remember for everything thats about to happen there are signs and thats the inbetween Im talking about!
Serena has actually restored some of my faith in womens tennis.I though Hingis did it last year but it wasnt enough,Serena gave me that extra jolt and now its up to Venus to play her part!
I cant wait to see that fake top 10 get some discipline.Justine really couldnt do it on her own and now Serena is back to help.!
yorkshire - April 2, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
You're probably more like idealists.

"fake top 10" - what's "fake" about it?
Some of my favourite players aren't in the top 10, but i wouldnt call it a fake top ten just because my favourites aren't in it.
Dark_Necrofear - April 2, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
I have already covered that topic i depth....no need to repeat, but the gist of it is that there are top 10 fillers as opposed to top 10 tennis players. They are just keeping things warm!
BIG-TODGER - April 2, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
i think the top ten will become even more irrelivent as the top women players become ever more injury prone. Maybe it's time for a change in how they work out the rankings,
Dark_Necrofear - April 3, 2007 08:32 AM (GMT)
How do you figure that BT?
yorkshire - April 3, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
What was wrong with the old ranking system before all this defending points nonsense?
GS2 - April 3, 2007 11:01 AM (GMT)
The ranking has always been a 12 month rolling system??

Funny SerenaW19
So realist we remain!

Pat got it wrong, but don't we all know and again?
I said that Serena could do well to get to the semi's at the Aussie Open and at one point when she was talking about easily being number 1 again I started to hope she wouldn't do well. That was wrong of me to say....full stop.
Unfortunately for Pat, he chose to get personal about it and went on a rant about it, which was a bti silly. But I bet he would be the first to say he was wrong.
We all get things wrong..... just like you Dark with your "Sampras can't rally" business ;) ;) Sorry, I just had to bring it up...... I am such an argumentative git.
BIG-TODGER - April 3, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
Ok anyone can get it wrong, and Cash has admitted this, the problem is Cash has to eat more of his words than most as he regularly puts his foot in it.
Tennis_Mad_Andy - April 4, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
To be fair, now I know that Serena is probably one of your favourites, but ok Pat Cash got it emphatically wrong here. The thing is... like Gav said, we all get things wrong sometimes and to be fair to Pat I think what he suggested didn't seem such a bad opinion before the start of the year.
I mean lets look at what he was probably going on... Serena wanted to make this year a successful year and I think what Pat was suggesting was that we don't expect too much from her this year because of numerous things that maybe have been going against her being too successful. When I say that I mean things like... She had been out injured for a long time and there was all this talk aswell of... "oh Serena is concentrating too much on her celebrity lifestyle and too much into her off the court interests to lessen her desire to be successful at tennis now"
And of course we know that she indeed already has been successful this year and she has proved the critics wrong which is absolutely fantastic and I like Serena's style of play and I love to see her doing well :) I just think if you had asked me what I thought Serenas year would have been like for 2007 at the end of 2006 I probably would have said something along the lines of "maybe a few good results and possibly a tournament win somewhere, but not ruling out lack of match practice for a few bad results aswell"
But I would have been wrong too because she has come back in a fantastic way and its remarkable what she has done already this year, and let me tell you aswell, there is nothing fake about the top 10 in the women's game or the top 10 in the men's game. The rankings don't lie and they are fair and they reward consistent players which is the right way in my opinion.
That's why Serenas win's over top 10 players to reach the final of the aussie open and win it, and also the same for Miami, makes it even more special.

That post was about Sampras was clearly desired to do one thing and thats fuel debate and it actually superceded debate and sparked questions which brought out loads about Sampras, things I was dying to know and things I really didnt know about...So NO Gav,I didnt get it wrong,it went according to plan.Besides you know that he cant rally just like you ;) ;)
More on topic now,Pat may have gotten it wrong making him human like me,you and the rest of the world, but he regualrly gets it wrong so there. He has been a Serena pundit for so long now that he had to apologise because she is making him look the fool!
Its one thing that the human doesnt like and thats to be written off by someone that bares no significance on your life that does it publically. And publically can be in your office or in this case Serenas office is the sporting world. If you are a born fighter you will do everything in your power to prove that person wrong and all the doubters, hence we Have Serena williams 2007...The Hungry One

I enjoy it too!
