Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Players just arrived on court. Let's hope Murray can break his duck against the Serb.

roflmao What a surprise I will not be with Wise in this one... roflmao
Go Djoko show to everyone that you are the best young gun around... :D
drakey01 - March 30, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
Go Murray! It would be great to see him crack the top 10, though I think Djokovic will probably win.
Hopefully the winner of this match will take the title.
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
Evening TV... as long as the winner of this match doesn't lose to Ljubicic in the final I don't care (hopefully Canas will take care of that aspect anyway). I like Djoko too... I just prefer Murray. Gotta be honest, I'd make your man favourite though.
Djokovic looking more confident so far, but Murray manages to hold also. 1-1.

Evening Wise...Your objective is clear..Anybody but not Lubo..Be careful this guy is more smart and powerful that a lot of people believe... :) ...From 0-40 to duece on Djoko serve.. :yikes:

Gooo Andy!
Cherring with Wise on this one :ok:

I second that wise. And lets face it, you have been ruthless with your predictions this week.
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
Murray went up 0-40 on the Djoko serve, and should probably have got the break. First one was saved by an opportunist drop shot from the Serb, the second by an ace, and the third, most disappointingly with a simple backhand into the net under no pressure. Similar poor mistakes followed and Djoko held.
2-1 now, but the psychological edge surely with Djokovic.
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:30 PM (GMT)
Oh dear, and to follow on from the previous nightmare, Murray blows a game point on his own serve and goes on to lose it amidst a flurry of backhand errors.
I really don't like the way Murray matches up against Djokovic; it's hard to see him getting much joy. He needs a rethink here. Djoko consolidates the break with a love hold and it's 4-1.
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Murray just can't seem to get into gear and badly needs to get his head together before this runs away from him - he seems to be berating himself, or Brad Gilbert, or both after virtually every point.
Murray needs to get his head together.
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Oh Andy
Djokovic is playing impressive though --- lots of variety, good technique, and everything.
I'm not sure I'll ever warm to his character, but I *am* warming to his game --- he's come quite a way even since the AO, I think.
Of course, I'm still supporting Andy here, who isn't playing up to his usual standard at the moment --- come on, get your returning in shape, and break back!
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
This is death by drop-shot at the moment.
Once again Murray gets broken from 30-15 up
Djokovic 5-1
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
Oh dear --- this is a worse beating than when he was injured :yikes:
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
Could be a repeat of Indian Wells on the cards here I'm afraid. Murray looking very flat, has been fiddling with his ankle a couple of times, and apparently there are rumours he fell over during practice yesterday...
Djokovic breaks again and holds easily to take the first set 6-1 in half an hour. Worryingly, Murray tanked the final game :yikes:

From 0-40 in the third game he's lost the plot. Total capitulation in the first set. I'd be surprised if he's won more than 5 or 6 points since then.
chairman - March 30, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
I think what is going on here is: as Nadal is to Federer, Blake is to Nadal and Djokovic is to Murray.
But Canas will take cake of our serbian friend.
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 07:42 PM (GMT)
Murray really *is* quite flat, but to be fair, Djokovic is playing extremely well.
And he's definitely the mentally tougher guy --- he has always seemed to me like one of those people who have lots of confidence (too much perhaps imo), and hardly any nerves. Big advantage in a sport like tennis.

Wrong. Attackers will always inflict humiliating defeat to counter-punchers when on form. Counter punchers have to accept that fact and be happy to grab all the off-forms days of the attackers players.
It is almost a law of nature.
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
The commentators were alluding to some kind of injury during that first set, but I think it was more down to Murray's temperament. After losing those break point chances in game 3, he looked very dejected and was constantly down on himself.
As well as Djoko's played, this is very poor from Murray. He's broken first game of the second set. Match over?
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
And surprise surprise Murray gets broken in the first game of the second set. Six games lost in a row.
How the hell can Murray be so flat for such a significant match?
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
Good god. I thought Andy's consistency had gone up, but it's obviously still a problem.
If he somehow rediscovers his form, I believe he could still pull this out. But it really doesn't look like it --- and Djokovic isn't going to give him an opening, he'll have to create it himself.

This is explained by Djoko tactical plan which is to play murray's game but even better. Murray realises he has no weapon against a player who does not want to hang himself.
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
From nowhere, Andy gets from 40-0 up to deuce, but then displays very little creativity in a big baseline battle which he eventually loses, and overhits a return to go 0-2 down.
His returning really isn't up to his usual standards. There have been quite a few Djoko serves which he read correctly, but then overhit his return. :yikes:

Hi Tenez good evening to you...
For me this match is very similar to the one between Gasquet and Murray at Toronto last year..In one side of the net there is more Tennis than in the other (More shots more possibilities)...and this side is not the Murray side...
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
Another break.
Murray clearly is suffering from an injury - someone has removed his spine in the dressing room. If I'd paid money to watch this I'd be pretty disgusted.
Djokovic to serve at 6-1 3-0
Wise_Analyst - March 30, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
Agree Tenez, but there's a lot more to this than Murray simply being outplayed.
The one positive I can think of here is that in their first match, Djoko was a set and a break down and went on to win. However, the way this is panning out, it'd be an achievement for Murray to avoid a total annihilation.
He double faults to go one break point down, but saves it with an excellent volley. He then saves another with a good backhand. If he can get out of this game, it might just be the boost he needs to launch a comeback.
He doesn't. 3-0, double break, match over.
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
Murray will be very lucky to avoid eating bagel.
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
Murray is completely self-destructing. He keeps double-faulting, and mishitting his shots.
Add to that that Djokovic is completely unfazed, and you get a bagel, I'm afraid ...

5-0 Djoko will serve for the match..Bagel very near

Agreed. Murray's thrown in a lot of dodgy performances but has always managed to gain the benefit of the doubt due to some kind of ulterior circumstances. This however, put simply, was a pile of wank. In some ways I hope there is some mystery injury.
Congratulations to Djokovic, who exposed the frailties ruthlessly and will be favourite to deservedly collect his first Masters Series title.
Andy1073 - March 30, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Two double faults and a terrible forehand long and it's 6-1 5-0
Murray walked on court with the chance to surge into the Top 10 in triumph off his own back. Now he'll probably end up slithering in there off the back of someone dropping points soon. Dreadfully disappointing.

Nicely summarised Wise.
Djokovic wins 6-1 6-0.
Murray getting booed off court by some now. Frankly he deserves it.
mightyjeditribble - March 30, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
Murray had some chances in that last game, but he just wasn't playing smart. :(
Breadstick & Bagel ... *not* what I expected.
Murray still has a long way to go ... Djokovic was truly playing very good, while Andy was abysmal.

Yes, you're right --- it was pathetic.
And you're right about Djokovic as well --- his strength is that he is just very ruthless at exploiting any weakness.
I still don't particularly like the guy, but he *does* play good tennis --- and he's come along far in the last few months.

OK TV --- given Djoko's performance here, I will  to the tennis he's come up with.
Still, I don't think I'll ever be a fan ... and if Canas wins today, I can still see him upsetting Djoko. But he has had to play a lot of tennis already, and Novak will be fresh after this match.

Absolutely - Djokovic played a great match.
How many times though have we seen Murray up against it, but finding a way to fight his way back into it? I saw nothing of that today and I don't think it was just because Djokovic was playing well. From 1-1 0-40 it was a capitulation. it's the lack of fight I just can't fathom.
