Title: Lindsay Davenport
The Dav - April 29, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
After a long break to (hopefully) clear herself of a back injury, Lindsay is due to return to the tour in Istanbul...
How do we rate her chances in Paris? And will she go one step further at Wimbledon this year???
I sure hope so! :)

Hopefully!
I'm glad she's playing Istanbul, it's valuable match practice ahead of the 2 Slams. I'd be happy if she defended her QF points at RG.

We've talked about this a lot, eh LDF? :D
First things first, a title would be great in Istanbul...
LDF - May 5, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
Lindsay's upcoming schedule is as follows:
Istanbul
Roland Garros
Wimbledon
Fed Cup?
Stanford
San Diego
Los Angeles
New Haven
US Open
Bali
So much for a reduced schedule :P
Not that I'm complaining. Lindsay loves to play during the US hard court season, and she has a lot of potential points to pick up. I'm surprised to see her committed to New Haven, I must say...
And I'm still hoping for the miracle that Lindsay will play Eastbourne for some more match practice
dl04 - May 5, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
I really want Lindsay to play Easttbourne :D When she played in 2003, there was such a quality field with Capriati, Rubin and martinez, even if Lindsay lost to Farina Elia
Lets hope The Scream Queen of mean doesnt play Istanbul, so lindsay can win her first title and then make the final of RG( you know the rest Dav and lDF :P )

After that loss Lindsay said she'd never play in Eastbourne again :(
She doesn't like the weather in particular. I remember her saying (in 2001): 'IF you could guarantee me this weather [it had been hot and sunny], I'd come here every year.'

Lindsay could really benefit from match-practice on grass though and she's such a crowd-puller. I'm really hoping for another great run for lindsay at the US Open rather than Wimbledon, as i feel that would be a dream for her to win. I fancy Wimbledon for someone else..... ;)

It would be a dream for her to replicate her 2004 US hardcourt run, but this time finish it with a US Open title...

Hey my fellow Lindsay fans LDF & dl :D
I knew Lindsay wouldn't cut back Agassi-style, those hefty appearance fees are quite the incentive roflmao I'm just happy that she'll be playing so much over the summer, although I wouldn't be surprised if she skipped one, maybe New Haven...
Oh, and she definitely won't play Eastbourne, there really would be no reason for her to play, she reached the final last year without a grass-court warm-up and Linds is such a natural on the grass that all she has to do is show up to guarantee atleast a quarter-final showing, unless they're wiling to fork out thousands for her appearance of course, Lindsay loves those dollar bills :D

She was so unlucky at the Us that year. She was stomping over Sveta before that injury struck. That 2004 hardcourt season was amazing. She trampled Serena, beat Venus, Myskina, Zvonareva and just proved how damn good she is on hardcourts.

Hey Dav :D
New Haven was the one that surprised me. I wouldn't be too shocked if she pulls out, particularly if she does well in the California tournaments.
I know, the chances of her playing Eastbourne are pretty much zero. The only way I could see her opting to do so is if she loses early at RG, but I can't see her losing in the first 3 rounds if she has a good run at Istanbul.

That summer *sigh*, Lindsay OWNED women's tennis that summer, I actually think that was her biggest opportunity at a Slam in recent years, moreso than Wimbledon '05, because in Venus she was facing an Wimbledon champion, whereas at the US Open, she had a couple of Russians and Cappy standing in her way! :(

Bali was the tournament that suprised me actually. I only thought she played at that event last year to regain the number one ranking, after her slightly dissapointing US Open. Although i agree New Haven does seem a bit too much especially after Stanford, LA, San Diego etc...

She's getting huge bucks for going to Bali I'd imagine, it's the same with Istanbul, don't get me wrong, she wants the titles, but all players visit places that offer them those 'bonuses' ;)

The most suprising thing for me was her complete anihilation of Serena in LA. Lindsay hates playing Serena, its well documented, but lindsay was so awesome that day, only one unforced error in the first set, andjust took serena apart. Almost remniscent of their US open 2000 encounter....

Possibly my favourite win for Lindsay outside a Slam EVER! What a performance! I'll never forget the point she played to get mp, a beautiful wrong-footer, that had Serena doing her classic 'ooooeeeerrrraaah!' noise, it's quite an achievement to get that out of Serena roflmao
Another great stat about 2004 for Lindsay, 5-0 versus the Williams sisters :D

She's got a fairly decent draw in Rome :)
I'd expect her to make at least the quarters, and I wouldn't put her past beating Petrova either...
