Title: The apprentice.
Description: Does anybody else watch it?
Scotsguy - March 29, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
The series was back for a third time last night and after the relative failure of the last series will Sir Alan/Allen(???) choose better this time. He fired Michelle.....and we all knew Ruth was the better option....
Anybody else watch it?
MrInvisible - March 29, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
Didn't see it. I'm a bit wary of a 3rd series to be honest. 1st series was great, and there were some good (and reasonably likeable) candidates on it.
2nd series was less informative and educational I thought, and even more staged for the TV (some v questionable firings, and why did Saeed last so long?)
Obviously, the programme makers want 'good TV', but if you get people getting fired purely to keep the troublemakers in for entertainment it all looks a bit pointless.
I'll give it a look, but I'm a bit sceptical. Sugar will dislike, and fire as early as possible: best educated candidates, 'nice' candidates who refuse to be obnoxious in the board room, 'dull' candidates that the producers don't like.
The difficult troublemakers will stay as long as Sugar can stand their egos (winner will have to have an ego smaller than Sugar).
trisco - March 29, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
Such a good programme, from first impressions I can say I don't think I will enjoy watching the annoyingly bossy/bitchy black girl who was the team leader of the guys, or the large opinionated white girl on the womens team . (Scuse the descriptions as I don't know their names yet)
I love it at the end in the boardroom, all the tension about who will get fired. Although I guess it is actually quite serious stuff. All these people have given up their jobs for this series. You gotta feel sorry for the guy who got voted off last night, although in all fairness, he quit his job himslef for this, and he did, deserve to go I feel through poor leadership.
MrInvisible - March 29, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Oh, and the posh candidates won't last too long either, no matter how good they are at the tasks!
Pebs - March 29, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
dont watch it but did catch Sugar on tv this morning saying that he hadnt been that impressed by the second series and had had a hand in choosing the candidates for this series so he hoped it would be an improvement.
Like all this reality type shows, the second series (and this one too I am sure) will now be attracting people who just want to get on tv... so you are bound to have more of a 'staged' feeling to things I guess.
The Dav - March 29, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
Love this show :D Then again I love all reality TV roflmao
Did you know there are 6 million cats in London? :D roflmao

I admit to lovign the last series, but last night i fell asleep! teh I woke up and saw the interview of Your Fired so I knwo who has gone and it's ruined it now! roflmao Thign is though I said that bloke woudl get fired after the first meeting cos I coudl see he was gettign stitched up! Nasty lot they seem this time I must say. I think Pebs is spot on, now you will get folk who just want to go on TV and act up to get famous. Not sure who he was but a guy who looked mayeb Asian or Turkish was so mouthy, I'd have slapped the asshole if he spoke to me like that! :o And Trisco mentioned a black girl - my God she was a miserble bag, I bet she'd eb great fun on a girl'snight out - NOT! roflmao

I think the people on that are more genuine. Hardly anyoen ever gets a decent deal though. I liked that rasta guy who had the Reggae Sauce, great idea and great name and marketing ideas, with his singing, but I felt he might have got ripped off.

I agree, but they must know going in there that they will be giving 40-50% away, if they say they are looking to give 15%. Im sure they do their research about the dragons before appearing on the show. On the apprentice, i enjoyed the American version with Trump----so dramatic :o :P
WimbledonAce - March 30, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
I love the Apprentice :D But again, MASSIVE reality TV fan. We have done a sweepstake at work just to add a bit more fun to it, makes it extra tense when the boardroom bit is on!
welshboy91 - March 31, 2007 12:18 PM (GMT)
I love The Apprentice
But he always picks the wrong winners ...
it should've been Saira [s1] nd the Badger [s2]

yep - I think that's a great show. Wish they'd do more follow-ups on the successful candidates though - and also the ones who rejected any offers but made in good anyway.
Wonder who the first candidate will be who actually gets on as a dragon?
Mo aka Mz O'Hara - April 2, 2007 10:22 AM (GMT)
ooooo I love it too, my boss got me into it half way though the last series. I thought Michelle was a good choice until it went downhil when he actually hired her. Not sure I have taken to anyone yet in this 3rd series, although the lady leading the mens team was....how shall I say....hard work and quite condecending at times, she def needs to take a different approach. Still its early days and cant wait till this weeks episode as apparently............ :o :yikes: ... :tsk: shan't give it away for those who don't know. :D
:D the sweepstake in the office is a great idea, unfortunately there is only me and the boss working here.

Never saw it. But I did watch the American version with Richard Branson - Rebel Millionaire, quite funny :) They were given tasks like crossign Niagra falls or something in some dangerous capsule, but the trick was that if you had any brain you would not even attempt it cos as Branson said the risk was too great. Some idiot was going to go ahead just to try adn win the show! roflmao
It's quite clever cos Branson is playign tricks on them all the time and doesnt; necessarily want what they think he wants. The winner at the end was given the chance to claim a 1m cheque or gamble for more and a job with Branson. Mad. :D
Scotsguy - April 4, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
It has to be said after tonights show that half of the potential apprentices are idiots, of the 3 left all of them should've been fired, how that guy who is basically a carbon copy of Syed (who fathered series 2s winner's child :o -although she ended up miscarrying) managed to stay in is a mystery, miund you the posh guy was a complete fool too, bankrupt twice isn't all that surprising the way he managed his team.
To be fair though, I think the losing team, (eclipse??) had a far better product and really the team that won had nothing special about their's-it was a box
I think there are about 4 of them that are any good and it's just gonna take a lot of failed tasks to get rid of the others

I agree, they are not very good in general this year. of the 3 to be fired, I guess Alan ha dnto choice but to fire the guy who did nothing cos he missed his son. At least the guy was honest, seemed really nice too. :) That tw*t Tre - he is bloody awful. He is NOT a team player, he is disruptive, disrespectful, disobedient. He is oen fo those who is destructive rather than constructive, I mean at least Rory tried whereas all tre did was try to sabotage things. That's the troubel with the show, there are people like him who dont; coem forward to manage and yet make sure that their manager fails and stitch them up to be fired. I think Rory deserved another chance, yes he was flawed but he did bloody well to design that product in the timescales. he isnt; very confident really is he? Considering his background and stuff. he'd have stayed if he'd defendied himself at the end. I quite liked him for some reason, he seems a nice bloke just a bit insecure in himself and in authority. I didnt; envy him managing that lot. :yikes: He should have had a second chance - what did Tre do exactly? Nothing of use. I hate him, he's vile. If I were managing him, he'd have bene slapped by now, and fired! roflmao I pity his wife.
I've nto really enjoyed the last two because it's been obvious who would go, two poor blokes who were not brilliant but did their best . At least they came forward and tried, whereas others sat back and played it safe, or were just plain disruptive. That stupid physicict woman shoudl have gone last week for cocking up the milk order, that is what really screwed her team, and the other woman last week who picked an unsuitable trading site.
Mo aka Mz O'Hara - April 5, 2007 11:18 AM (GMT)
:yikes: SB does not like Tre at all. :yikes:
I think the guys did have the better 'looking' product by a million miles. There are dog owners out there who would use pooch pouch whilst taking their dogs for long walks through the Cotswolds (like my boss does) for 4 -6 hours at a time. As Sir Alan said, both teams slipped up big time, by not just aiming for the bigger market and discounting Harrods etc.

No, i think he is one of those guys who just stitches others up, and yet does not do anything useful or take responsibilty. We'll see what happens with him :)
Anyway yes that product could be useful, before they did it I was screaming for some kind fo bag to be put together for walking dogs but I thought something you wear on the waist might be better. That thing woudl tno fit many people - it would slip off their shoudlers. And it would eb damned annoying for those with larger bosoms roflmao I reckon that it will sell though, i can see people wanting it after it being on TV. That closet was a good idea (although ti's been doen already) but poorly done and cheap looking.

I can HONESTLY, see my boss wearing the pooch pouch. Shame he isn't in until Tuesday but I will ask him then as he is an Apprentice fan. He did purchase a ramp for 'Charlie' the other week, at great expense, to help Charlie get into the boot of the car as sometimes he finds it difficult. But you know what Charlie stuck his nose up at it, and went round it instead. :D Cost a blooming fortune and is lying gathering dust.

This week was pricelss. that tw*t form the army and his stupid bean can burner! And tryign to seel cheese to the French! roflmao
What i loved was how his transparency re: takign Adam in cos he hates him and so does his 'girfriend' Katy backfired on him. Stupid idiot. She is vile too, how nasty is she? Hope she gets stuffed next. And I was glad to see her evil sidekick go last week. She tried to stitch up Adam too. if she'd taken Katy in, katy woudl have been fired.
Not sure who I want to win, but I really hope Katy gets it and Adam stays. :D
WimbledonAce - May 4, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
This week was indeed hilarious. Didn't like Adam at first but now starting to feel a little sorry for him - he doesn't really do anything wrong but they always take him in and complain about him. Plus when he went back to the house it was really nasty. Katy is vile - can not stand the woman. So pleased Kristina revealed all about her and Pauls relationship - spot on :D She seriously needs to go - god knows why so many guys fall for her, she isn't even attractive! Loving Tre - I know he's a pain in the ar*e but he cracks me up, pure entertainment. Also love Lohit, so camp and adorable.

Russiafan - May 10, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
Katie was so annoying last night - really wanted to slap that woman - she looked so smug the whole time!
It looks like there is going to be a showdown between the two bitches - Katie vs Christina - my money is on Christina because she is slightly less irritating.
Of the rest of them I'm not sure who should win to be honest - Naomi is pretty good though was rather poor as team leader, Christina and Katie are both very able but would you trust them with a job being such backstabbers? Tre irritates me with his cocky attitude as does Simon....erm...Jadine? hardly and the others aren't more promising...
Oh and I'm so glad Adam has gone, he was hopeless and seemed more upset about losing the chance to drive a racing car than losing the chance to win the apprentice...

:o crickey, I hadn't spotted a 'fit one' all series
Cant see who could win this one....some of them hardly feature in the tasks and its hard to tell if they are having a quite dull week, or just being edited out for whatever reason.
My boss is missing Tre swearing on sceen roflmao he hated him the first couple of weeks, but now he's gone abit quite ( I suspect he has been told to tone the language down) my boss is dying to see him have a rant on screen again because he's missing the entertainment value. Mind you, I'm still annoyed at the comment Tre made about a couple of the girls a few weeks back, when he thought it must be their behaviour must have been down to their time of the month, or something :o :yikes:
Adam, had to go. Deep down I think he is one of the good guys, and certainly capable at remaining calm at all times, but he did seem to lie a couple of times in the board room and thats a big no no :tsk:
Cant wait to see if it kicks off next week between katie and Christina, after Sir Alan let the cat out of the bag oooops 'gleefully' about what had been said the previous week about Paul and Katy's relationship :D

What MO and WA were saying re: Adam -
I don't think he was a genius but he was steady, strightforward and a decent bloke. I don't think he shoudl have gone though becuase it's obvious he is constantly in the boardroom as that pair fo bitches Katy and Christina have been gunning for him for weeks, as did that awful Essex woman in glasses and blonde hair who thankflly was fired a couple of weeks back. There is much worse in there than him. Gahzelle or whatever she is called is useless. She only won her task through sheer luck at the zoo, and pressure doesnt; bring out her best. Mopey miserable cow I say! roflmao In Adam's defence he was unlucky to lose the zoo task, that was the Essex woman's fault for labelling the lollies as natural when adam told her not to. And this week, he wasn't brilliant but was again unlucky to lose by just 93p or something. He should have been more insistent that Katy and Chritina went off to get the seeds, he was daft nto to realise that it was worth havign the late fine as long as he got the goods, but I reckon that Katy and Christina knew fulyl well what they were doing and wanted to lose so as they coudl get him fired. He never had a chance really after that. Nice bloke though, and his Your Fired interview afterwards very funny. The audience actually voted that he should have been hired, which they have not done for anyoen else so far. :)
I'm nto surprised Adam was negative the other week when Katy and Paul did nothing but flirt all day and coem up with stupid ideas about DJing on a Tuesday night. Even Tre told them they were stupid and they persisted.
If I'd had to spedn a day with that pair I'd have resigned! roflmao
Katy's comments are just vile. The woman is vile. She insulted him for being a Northerner, and then implied he was an alcoholic. She really showed herself up in the board room though - rude, agressive adn disrespectful. in the real world she'd be fired for that kind fo insulting behaviour. it does concern me that anyone Northern on that show seems to have been set up. They shoudl have had a better representation of regions on there. oved it when the lady who manges the hugely sucessful Ultimo said she woudlnt; employ Katy if they paid her too, and offered Adam a job. :D
Will be interesting to see what happens next, as now that they have ganged up to get Adam off, tactics ans realtionships will change once that common purpose has gone. If Ghazelle runs a team, I see her getting stitched up and fired, or just failing miserably. Sadly this show is not about who is best now but who can stitch others up. No idea who will win, I think Christina has a good chance is she doesnt; get stitched up. Lohit is OK, but nto brillaint and keeps well out of it. Don't see much of Jadine anymore, Trey is funny but not the apprentice. Naomi is a waste fo space, no idea why people rave about her and the guy who ran this week's task is all over the place and crap at negotiations. Still it's all good entertainment. :D
