Never mind Sveta, bring on the US Open!
LDF - June 10, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
Well done Justine! :D
Unfortunately Sveta couldn't find her A-game today...she showed signs of brilliance, but overall she made a few too many unforced errors on the key points. However, I'm sure she's very pleased with her achievements this tournament.

Well done Justine
Don't party too hard QJ ;)

That final defintely had it's moments. It was a shame for Sveta as she played some brilliant stuff to get the break in set 2 and set up a potentially mouthwatering final set, bu tthen she blew it. She seemed to make all the mistakes at exactly the wrong time, and showe signs of being unsure as to how to play JHH. She was closer than it looked, and JHH did not produce a masterclass today so the weaknessess were there to be exploited. Shame I love Kuzzy, how good is that forehadn when it is on? Not as good but remiiniscent of one of my old faves Frauline Forehand herself, Steffi Graf.
Well done JHH, she played the bets throughout the tournie though and throughly deserved. That shoudl shut up some of those critics, or maybe not!. :D
Let's hope Wimbers is better and more exciting than the FO though, or I might just pack up watching!

Well done Justine. She definately deserves this. On clay she does seem untouchable at the minute. She must now rest and make sure that she if fit for Eastbourne. She has played so little grass court tennis since 2003 and needs practice.

it was definately better than last years final so heres hoping that next year it reaches 3sets! :D
ju wasn't particularly impressive throughout the clay season, unlike last year, yet winning the FO without droping a set just shows how far ahead than the rest of the tour she is on the surface.
for the most part she was passive and just waited for the errors from kuzy but when it mattered she stepped it up with good serves and very aggresive baseline game. her trademark BH, which was very erratic through the match, gave her the first matchpoint. just brill!
kuzy played well but an FO final was terra incognita for her. aggre with SB, she made all the wrong desisions at the wrong time, the exact oposite from ju. she showed that she's a smart player by changing her tactics by the end of first set. instead of hitting hard and going for the winners she started playing lower risk tennis with more technique rather than more power. shame she couldn't capitalize her good form at the start of the second set to give us a third.
congratulations ju for a third FO crown and kuzy for her good run!
come monday the grass is greener! :yahoo:

Now the hard works starts for Justine. After her French Open win, can she take that form to grass? It would be good to see the big 3 prospering on grass, eg Venus, Justine and Davenport.

Hey dl :)
Hopefully Lindsay will be there, according to the LA times, her agent has said her participation is 'up in the air'...

I heard this LDF, it doesnt look good, but i'm optimistic. However if she doesnt make Wimbledon she could still come back succesfully, after all she did in 2002 and reached the semis of the US Open. I still believe there is a lot of good tennis in Davenport and before she bows out, she is going to produce something special. You heard it here first ;)
Go Lindsay, make Wimbledon  :D

Well what yer all think of JHH then?? She's a class act what ?? Boring final but enter Miss Justine the terminator. You go girl. I predict she will dominate ladies Tennis for at least 2 years. Ruthless and hard . But if thats what it takes then so be it. I am full of admiration for the wee little lass. Good guts.

Hmm, the final wasn't great, but not that bad, and certainly better than the women's FO finals in recent years..
Yip, if JHH can stay healthy then she will win a few more slams.. I wonder if Martina Hingis might be a threat over the next couple of years, if her game continues to gather momentum??

It was memorbale for the fact thet she retained her title and nothing else. It was a crap final. Bring on the men.
