Title: As One Dimensional As It Gets
Description: Like Jack and Helen in As Good As It Get

The title says it all....Andy Roddick is as multi dimensional as an ice-cream stick, hell, that even has more variety than him.
Nadal brutally exposed and destroyed this boy in a Federer like fashion.Ripping 33 winners past him!Roddick has no and I mean no plan B...His game is built around a big serve and once that is gone he has nothing.Never before have I seen such a complete performance from Nadal on a hardcourt than this!
However, this match boiled down to who can play 1 dimensional tennis better and due to Nadals calycourt expertise he was infinitley better.
Roddicks needs a brain jolt!

absolutely, Roddick is one dimensional plus he looks agitated and sweaty throughout-not a pretty sight in any sense of the word. His forehand is ok, but too much is made of it, it's nothing compared to most of the big forehands out there, if it were as great as some claim he would hold his on from the ground and be better in rallies. Most of his points are the result of his serve he tends to look like a child who's lost his mum when he finds himself at the net. Mind you have to hand it to him he's made very little go a long way.

I have to disagree. You cannot win a GS and 2 masters with just a serve. Ivo Karlovic is just a serve and look where he is. Roddick doesn't have incredible volleys by any means (He stands too close to the net) but he isn't bad at them. His bh may be kinda rubbish but it's no longer the weakness it was. And his fh is in the top 5 of current players.

Well i didn't say Roddick was just a serve, but seriously he isn't much more.
ivanisevic and Rusedski prove you can serve your way to success, that's the main reason they slowed things down in the men's game everybody was bored with the big servers-hence the campaign for real tennis.
Karlovic has a great serve-just not as good.
'Roddick doesn't have incredible volleys by any means' you must have some sort of certificate in understatement. it's not just that Roddick stands to close to the net, he'd have as much success a feather duster as a racquet at the net.

Roddick has more than just a serve. His forehand is one of the best in the game. Problem is.......for me that's where he is one dimensional. If someone can handle his serve and his forehand he doesn't much more that is world class. So to an extent, I agree with the the title. He can be very one dimensional, and has to change a little to succeed more against the best.
I think BT's comparison with Ivanisevic is fair enough. I certainly don't think the comparison to Rusedski is though! Rusedski doesn't belong in the same bracket as Ivanisevic or Roddick, now he was mainly just a serve with average to mediocre groundstrokes.
But let's not forget Roddick was just a point away from beating Federer at the end of season championships last year, and to do that you need to be more than just a serve.

Agree with this...He is now a serve and a forehand!
