SuperBRAT - March 12, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
Hey Pebs, i like your film choice. :D
Btw I wanted to answer you on the other thread but it was closed. Re: what I picked, this time it really is one of my top ten faves of all time. I love it to death and watch it over and over and over. :D Here's some others I like - Saturday Night Fever - quite a hard and yet funny film, not a musical and fluffy at all and Travolta is so cool. B) Quadrapehnia - love the Who soundtrack and being an ex-mod I just gotta love it. :D The Wizard of Oz, Sound fo Music, and Edward Scissor Hands - hoe darkly comic if that movie? And how cut eis Depp. :D And then it's Thelma and Louise which I used - my fave of all time maybe.
Then HORROR! my personal faves
The Omen
The Excorcist
Carrie
Texas CSM(original)
Friday 13th
Halloween
The Fog
The Wicker Man
English compendium horror - films like Asylum, Tales form the Crypt, From Beyond the GRave - all 1960s jobs.
Battle Royale
The Ring (Japanese version)
Candyman
Old B&W Universal Horror like Frankenstein - love Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi :D
King Kong (RKO original)
Sci-fi horror like Terminator
Psycho and most Hitchcock stuff.
Many others, but these spring to mind.
Oh and I love gangster films - Scarface with Pacino for eg.
And Point Break - Keanu and Swayze in tight fitting surf suits, you cannot go wrong can you? roflmao Was gonna use Point Break but I was talking about it so though best not, and same with the horror stuff. I tried to pick stuff people would nto guess was me. :)
SerenaW19 - March 12, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
I know which one is yours SB :D
I also thought AN was yours as I remember you saying once that you liked the imagery in it and how it so aptly showed the horrors of war :)
Pebs - March 12, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
love those films you mentioned SB - we must have a film night after we spent the day on Henman hill!
and nice to have you back hun after you rather exhausting sounding weekend!

The Dav - March 12, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)

Lex - March 13, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)
I saw a special edition dvd of the one I voted for on Saturday - haven't seen anything related to that film in ages, then I come on her and see it as a choice too!!
'Tis a sign!!!
Love the goth feel to the film. I wonder if it really was a tragic accident or something else..
Dinky Jo - March 13, 2007 09:16 AM (GMT)

Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead
I knwo you dont; like the last one much but I will watch the modern one if you wish. George said it was good. :D

SB...I couldn't reply on the previous round coz it was closed, but I LOVE Jason and the Argonauts, its one of my fave movies. :D :D The scene with the skeletons is a marvelous display of special effects from years ago, don't you think.  A guy who dealt with the effects in that scene was on the tv a few months ago, with some of THE skeletons used .....how awesome is that.. ...I sat there enthralled like a kid whilst he was chatting. when I first saw the film it scared me when they emeged from the ground. :hide:

Mo you have such great taste. :D When I was a kid we used to watch that movie every Xmas eve. There was a family ritual - our parents went down the pub and we played in the kids' room and drank cherry ade, then went to eat in at the chippy - home made fishcakes and thick gravy  Then home to watch Jason. The Wizard of Oz was on almost every Xmas too. :D My mum also worked ina cinema so we used to watch the two movies there a lot. The special effects man I think is called Ray Harryhausen, he was a brilliant pioneeer in special effects, and he built all these models himself - no computer animation to help. Truly marbellous man    Thekids today might laugh but that film's effects still hold their own IMO, and as I say no comp animation so more skill involed, and it was in 1963. :) The skeletons are fab, they still scare me today and there is also the gigantic God Thassos where they remove something from his heel to stop him, the Harpies that steal the blind man's food and a gorgon/medussa type thing. And I love the Clashing Rocks scene. :D I like the way the Gods play chess to determine fate and Honour Blackman is one of them and has a soft spot for Jason so saves him.

Well I am rather shocked, cos I normally come 3rd or 4th in such things, it must be a weak era if I won something. roflmao
Bad luck Pebs :( I love your film choices though, great stuff. I was convinced I'd have lost this by the weekend.

Planet of the Apes is definitely a film that makes you think and that imo is a very good thing, the best sorts of films :)
A lot of science fiction films can make you think actually, it's a very underrated attribution of the genre.

Oh certainly is :D Is all about a premise of 'What If?' and asking that question throws up some thought provoking stuff.. Like 1984, Brave new World.

:D finally used one of my clips!
This film is probably one for those who likes it a little dark with a thread of romance.... and the mystery surrounding the film with Brandon Lees death lends it a certain 'when do you think it happened?' type of thing.
Sad that. :(
