Two more for you Wise. I agree that she is a pretty girl, but I like to see more of a waist.

Bit more of a waist? In tennis terms, Ivanovic definitely has a waist - more so than most of her rivals. In terms of her playing potential, bit less of a waist might be encouraged...

Like your avatar photo btw, even if it does remind me of a certain girl I used to know  Myskina's a funny one, I see some shots of her (a few of which have been posted on this board) and I think she's beautiful, but she's also prone to looking a bit 'ill'... certain features of her don't always look so flattering when prominent. She qualify as having 'more of a waist' for you?

On reflection, she certainly looks amazing when she smiles, but when she's not so happy... hmmm...

Wise those pics are truely breathtaking...That girl is one other kind of stunner!

Hi Wise,

I understand what you are saying about player's waists, and your Anna is certinly pretty. I guess Capriati is a good example of someone who became less attractive as she developed her physique to be a better tennis player.

I am not sure about Myskina's waist, I have not studied it - although I think she has a pretty lithe and athletic, rather than powerful, figure. I have said it elsewhere, but I think she falls down when she lets her mouth hang open like she's catching flies. The combination of that and the shape of her nose sometimes makes her look pretty sour.

For me she is like Hingis - neither of them are classical beauties, but there is something about them in terms of looks, character, and the way they play tennis. They are just out of the ordinary. Tenez mentioned a french expression, "elle a du chien" which I think is rather apt.

You may have seen my post elsewhere - but should you not have this as your avatar photo? ;)2 :ok:

Yeh... that's it, couldn't quite put my finger on it - she lets her mouth fall open a lot and it's not too attractive. Agree with the Hingis comparison - both girls certainly have a 'bitchy' side to them which for some reason appeals to me (and you too I assume). Conversely, I don't like the nastier sides to certain other high profile players at all.

It puzzles me how people think Sharapova and Vaidisova are the prettiest - both are nice looking girls (Maria more so), but both are too boney in my opinion. Vaidisova is especially overrated for me - her face is rather square. I guess people see them more often than they see 'my Ana' so haven't really grasped how stunning she is. Pennetta is also extremely attractive, something which seems to pass people by.

As for that photo, do you mean I should incorporate it into my current avatar in the style of chet? My lion 1995, yours 2007? ;)2

Oh and Dark - no worries. If you're happy, I'm happy :ok:

It's not the bitchiness so much as the apparent independence (although some of what Hingis has said was pretty gruesome).

My view about looks is that if you look at anyone purely as an object you will always find imperfections and think them less attractive for that. If you meet somone in real life you don't do that - their character is inseparable from your perception of their attractiveness, and it is the same for people in the public eye (although you have to go on what you perceive of their character).

I liked Sharapova at Wimbledon 2004 when she seemed so openly joyful - but I have gone off her because I don't like her style of play, I have had it with the noise and all the mucking about with Yuri, and she seems to me to be too self-consciously trying to be attractive for the benefit of the advertisers (of course, she may be a lovely person in real life but I don't know).

Vaidisova is certainly pretty and what I have read about her suggests that she is level-headed, intelligent, and thoughtful. She is not willowy, sure, but she wants to win tennis matches (like your Anna). I think that she could be a really big star one day.

As for the avatar - you always have an answer, don't you Wise? ;)2

Apologies, lowering the tone time...

Know what you mean about Sharapova, although I do still find her to be quite bubbly and outgoing in interviews - is more her on court behaviour and her 'ugly' style of play that has made her less attractive in my eyes. Once you've got more than just looks to judge someone on, the human mind makes these external factors visible in their looks. Ana on the other hand has yet to reveal a single notable character defect, and therefore remains the apple of my eye

I believe she actually has more earning potential than Maria; her game is a bit smoother, she's better looking, and (so far) she seems to have a warmer, more lovable personality. Whether she can match Sharapova's mental tenacity and desire is another thing...

Ana will be seeded 7 for Roland Garros (she's ranked 8, but Hingis has withdrawn) which gives her a great chance of reaching the QF there.
