Title: Henman's Year End Ranking 2006
Description: Henman's Year End Ranking 2006
SuperBRAT - May 3, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
Tim is currently at around 67 I think, and he was top five not so long ago. I really hope he can end the year with a much better ranking to befit the quality of the guys career and play.
Where do you think he will end up? :D
Hiromiku - May 3, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
He'll ege into the top 10.

Wow, even I am nto that optimistic! He'll need some good results though for that. I predict 30-40, but of ocurse I hope for more.
Ken001 - May 4, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
He has so few points to defned from now on that I reckon he'll stagger back into the top 40, maybe a little higher with some kind draws.
The Dav - May 4, 2006 11:45 AM (GMT)
I'd say he'll end the year at around 33/34...

He's 70 now. I reckon he should be worried right now. Another month and we are into the 2nd 1/2 of the year. So if he is to make his mark this year i reckon he should be higher ranked by now.

Think he will retire as his form is laughable and his mistakes yesterday too awful and embarrasing.

...and yet he won, the mark of a good player is to win when you're not playing 100%.
Obviously if he slaughtered the guy it would have been more spectacular, but a win is a win.
:D

One good tournament and he's right back up there Jill...
OSmeone - May 11, 2006 04:04 PM (GMT)
I wish that my otherchoices in favoured players allowed Tim to have a fairytale tournament win, but if i were to root for him I would have to root against one of my favourites. Maybe he can win in queens- it would be great if he could actually get a title on his favourite surface!
Henman is rubbbish - May 11, 2006 05:06 PM (GMT)
Queens and Henman in same sentence-got it in one. ;)

Thou roguish unwash'd hedge-pig! Henman is rubbish and Queens-my oh my, these terms in the same sentence roflmao
LDF - May 11, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
I think he'll finish around number 40...
Henman is rubbbish - May 11, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Think he will retire. Press are not behind him and he is getting an embarassment!

A player won't stop playing because the press isn't behind him, that'll be cowardice! Unless that's what you will do, if you were him, no doubt.
And I don't see what is so embarassing about him.

yes and towards the business end of the year he's got F*** all to defend. He had pretty poor slams so he should pick up points as long as he has fairly kind draws.
JymJilly - May 12, 2006 05:00 PM (GMT)
He cant seem to get past any 3rd round though this year for the main part which is worrying

I know, I t worries me. I am wondering if it's phsyical. He goes off to a flying start, says his back and shoulder are fine, look spromising etc. then he goes out! he does not improve. Do you think he is getting tired and can;t cope with a full tournie? I woudl HATE to see him ou tof Wimbers early this year, I really would .
Anyway, from something I read i dont; think he is going to reitre this year do you?
Henman is rubbbish - May 16, 2006 09:05 AM (GMT)
I think it is 100%psychological the losing against qualies etc.He has always been a bit dodgy in that area and apart from the fact that his game is VERY old fashioned and he just doesnt have the serve or power to beat top players, he needed to have addressed the psychological aspects too but clearly doesnt. He also needed to always have a coach with him 24/7 for a mass of reasons but chooses not to.

Its possible that it is . He is playing good Tennis again but is not as consistent as he was so maybe its the old body. He was always known for his consistency in the past. I just think for the main part the youngers are all overtaking the older guys now. He cannot anymore beat the power players especially from the back. And I suppose his game is now quite unique but the serve and vollet style is still a joy to watch.
JymJilly - May 17, 2006 03:30 PM (GMT)
Actually S.B if you look at the big picture Henman has been the best performer of all 3 . Look at the champions race. On this year alone he has done better than Andy or Greg. I know they have all been pretty dire but Henman is still the best player we have by a long way.

I would have to agree. Tim's ranking may have slipped but he had more to defend than the others, so that is why it fell. Murray has dissappointed a bit hasn;t he? He needs a coach right now. All that hard work making hsi breakthrough, and now he doe snto seem in a position to capitalise from it. And Greg - well he gives his best and I do like him, e can be very enrgetic and pumped up which makes for good viewing, but he is just nto the class of henman is he? never was an dnever will be now.
JymJilly - May 17, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
Yes I would agree. And I do like Greg a lot but he has never been as good a player as Henman despite reaching the U.S open final. Its very plain for all to see.
Murray is very disappointing at the moment but he has time on his side. I just cannot help but to think though that he may not make it .Its very tough indeed to reach the top 20 never mind top 10 and stay consistent throughout. There is so much competition out there and to be honest Tim Henman never ceased to amaze me with his consistency over the years despite never winning a G.S. A consistent top ten performer who was really starting to be feared by the other players pre 2004.
But now I think its too late to expect him to shine again. He may have a good run here or there but thats all

I know. It is a shame. Tim had that year where he got to the semis of the FO and USo and I though, hey he is really makign progress at such a late stage in his career. Now look, shame isn;t it? Still, if he won the grandslam and jumped naked through a hoop of fire he'd still get slated by the ignorant! roflmao
JymJilly - May 17, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Yes and then his back went. Always the late bloomer
Yes roflmao Even if he won the next 3 and did all four next year they would still say it was a fluke roflmao

Oh yeah! roflmao The field would be crap, the seedings and draw would be fixed, if they say Federer's drink was spiked with sleeping pills, etc, etc.
SuperBRAT - May 22, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
Judging from this looks like people are mostly going for 31-50, well let's hope he gets his finger out soon fans.
Nick Havoc - October 9, 2006 05:10 PM (GMT)
Just dragging this back up to see how our predictions are looking. If Tim continues to play well, he might just make that most popular prediction of "31-40".

Wel I have to say 31-40 but would love to have voted inside top 30, but can't see that happening sadly. :(

Don't know - he looked pretty good in Tokyo, so I'll say he'll edge just into the top 30 with some further good performances in the last few tournaments of the year. But we'll see ...
Nick Havoc - November 20, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
SerenaW19 - November 20, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Well most people were right.
But he could've ended in the top 30 if he'd played and done well in Paris...sadly he never got the chance :(
Still ending the year number 39 isn't too bad :), it can only go up in 2007.
