Title: Nadal Vs Baghdatis

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
This match should be starting any time now - should be a good one! B)

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
players are warming up now.......

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
and Nadal gets broken in the first game ,with a couple of forehand errors......

chetanpv - February 27, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
NOOO NOOO

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
Baghdatis holds to love, and then Nadal won his next service game.

2-1 to Baggy - who is a break up!

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
Baggy wins his service game with an ace!

3-1 to Baghdatis!

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
Nadal wins his service game to love - smashing down two aces as well.

3-2 Baghdatis

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Brilliant game from both players there. Baghdatis holds, but has to face BPs. Nadal appears to be warming up a little bit, and Baghdatis is playing well - some really great shots being played! :)

4-2 Baggy

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
Nadal saves 3 - yes, 3 - break points with some excellent serving (and an unforced error from Baggy)

4-3 Baghdatis!

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Baghdatis wins the first set 6-3, having broken Nadal twice!

liam_valid - February 27, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)

yeah, i'm watching it in a different room too - running back and forth, and shouting quite loudly at the TV :) Tis a good match so far!

mightyjeditribble - February 27, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Hmm. As I said on the other thread, Nadal is a slow starter. But he's in a spot of bother here.

Baggy held in the opening game of the second as well. Rafa should try and hold a few more service games himself, I think ...

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
1-1 in the 2nd set!

Nadal is gonna have to move up a gear or he's gonna be in big trouble!

 your efforts to keep us updated... sounds like if Baggy keeps up the good work and Nadal doesnt get his cute derriere in gear, you wont have to do it much longer

drakey01 - February 27, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Its one thing getting the first set against Nadal , its quite another getting the second (as Federer showed in 2 GS finals last year), he's never going to make it easy.

As I wrote that Nadal broke. Me turning up seems to have that effect on players I like.

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
And as if by magic, Nadal breaks Baghdatis. Baggy was incredibly unlucky there - Nadal's shot hit the top of the net and just dropped over the other side, Baggy had no chance of making it. Really bad luck for him

mightyjeditribble - February 27, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Eurosport's live feed seems to have stopped. :badpc:

Looking at the scoreboard, I didn't realize before that Roger is playing doubles here!

Currently 3-2 (on serve) against Davydenko/Youzhny.

(And no, he's not playing on his own ... he's partnering Allegro.)

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:24 PM (GMT)
Nadal consolidates his break. He seems to be forcing Baggy to play about 7 miles behind the baseline, which is opening up a load of interesting angles for him.

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
Rafa holds to love - although Baggy did show off his football skills

4-2 Rafa

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
Baggy gets broken again 5-2 to Rafa!!!!

eh?

after netting a ball, Baggy then decided to kick it around a bit - it's difficult to describe.......

chetanpv - February 27, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
Thtas where all these young guns are failing (except Nadal). .too inconsistent.

baggy played brilliant in the first set and now he's playing miserable. Expect nadal to take the 3rd set 6-1 or 6-2.

yes, ahem, live scoring - got distracted by Safin pics (I blame pebs :P )

Nadal took the second set 6-2, but Baggy has managed to hold serve in the first game of the third set!

Dinky Jo - February 27, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)
gotta go guys!

Come on Baggy!!!!

barrystar - February 27, 2007 04:52 PM (GMT)
Not watchting or listening, but following scoreboard. Looks like a Nadal win is on the cards. Baghdatis is fighting to hold his serve, and Nadal is not.

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Baggy vs. Nadal . . . I think that would be an entertaining match to watch.

drakey01 - February 27, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Oh dear, double fault from Baggy to gift the break.

Could be all over soon (well, relatively soon - this is a Nadal match)

chetanpv - February 27, 2007 04:58 PM (GMT)
Nadal holds 3-1..

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
So . . . What's the big difference now from the first set? Is it Baggy's level of play or Nadal's. I was looking at some of the stats, and in the first set, Baggy won 75% of the points on Nadal's second serve (9/12). Since then, he's won 0% (0/9).

chetanpv - February 27, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
Federer/Allegro playing doubles lost the 1st set 7-6 to the russians- DD & Youzhny..
Second set 2 all

see you later Jo, thanks for updates

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
After two love-service games for Nadal in the third set, it's now 15-30 on his serve.

30-30

40-30

Game Nadal. 4-2

chetanpv - February 27, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
Nadal's match is more or less wraped up..

The swiss break to go 4-3 up second set..

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
A more comfortable hold for Baghdatis this time, but he's still a break down, 4-3.

mightyjeditribble - February 27, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
Really high quality in the Nadal match. He seems to be mixing his game up more, willing to throw in some net points. Nadal has the edge at the moment, but Baggy is hanging in there. Still a break down, though.

RafaRoastLamb - February 27, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
Vamos Rafa!

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
5-3 All Nadal has to do now is hold serve one more time. (Unless he breaks here to win it, of course.)

Nick Havoc - February 27, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
30-40 Match point.
