Title: Juan Monaco - one to watch for claycourt season?

MrInvisible - February 26, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
Juan Monaco won the Buenos Aires title last week, with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win over Di Mauro in the final. Whilst this hardly sends a 'chilling warning' to Federer and Nadal, I will be keeping an eye on Monaco's results leading into the European claycourt season.

Monaco is still young, 22 years old, and has been impressive from what I've seen of him at Roland Garros in the past.

Buenos Aires was his first title, but every year, there's always a young claycourter who seemingly comes from nowhere to put a good run together - Monaco could be the player this year.

Now, don't all go putting your life savings on Monaco to win Roland Garros, but keep an eye on him - he could be this year's surprise quarter-finalist/semi-finalist there!
