Title: PTW's
Description: A self made Acronym!

PTW's...Quite the acronym but also funny and serious! What does it stand for?Its simple PROFESSIONAL TIME WASTERS!
Who is in your opinion the most notible Professional Time Waster?I at one stage thought Nadal was prime candidate for this but after knocking back a few classics I would have to say that Lendl takes the cake.
The man use to bounce the ball, bang his shoes fiddle with his racquet, bang his shoes and get warning after warning for delays. It was quite funny! But all in all, what does it boil down to?Some say its pure tactics for rythem breaking whilst others put it down to superstition!
What is your take on this and please give examples of others you know who are PTWs of note.Feel free to add women as well,I know Mary Pierce is bound to be mentioned!
;)

Does anyone board member have any traits like this? I always seem to wipe my forehead with my shirt before most points... although I guess that ain't wasting time.. just weird

The question is why do we bounce the ball before we serve?I dont know why I do it but I do know that if I dont do it I dont feel comfortable before I serve its like the ball then feels weird!
My bad habit is that my racquet has to have the head symbol under the handle face a certain way or else I cant play with the raquet!Strange hey!But its not timne wasting I guess!

Bouncing the ball on serve isn't all that weird (if you don't overdo it and become a PTW). My first coach always told me to develop a rhythm on bouncing the ball, because it makes it easier to develop a rhythm on the serve; and I've noticed that if I get rattled in a match and start to bounce the ball more or less, my serve can also get thrown off.

I never bounce the ball before i serve, but i always figured the professionals did it to give them a few extra seconds to look at their opponents and figure where they are going to place the serve

Djoko is annoying - he really does bounce the ball at least 10 times every bloody serve......3 or 4 would suffice!
Nadal seems to have stopped wasting so much time since he keeps getting warnings. But there does seem to be some sort of routine - socks have to be right length, shorts have to be pulled out of his ass, headband must be adjusted properly........
I noticed Gonzo in his final against Fed at the AO seemed to take a lot of time in between points, but i can't think what he used to do.

I bounce the ball between three and five times before every point - just gives me a little feel of the ball, and also ensures that I start low and go right back with my service action.

I bounce the ball like three times for the 1st serve and once or twice for the 2nd.But I dont delay between serves, thats my rythem.I think the ball feels right after those few bounces. Its a mental thing!
Anyone bang their shoes a la Lendl style?

Yeah it could be so they can clear their head before they start a new point! Just to get in the zone! :D

And believe me,I talk from experience when I say that so much go's through your head when you bounce that ball!
