Title: Kim! Is she not really bothered?

T01 - February 19, 2007 11:27 AM (GMT)
Since defeating Maria at the USO SF in 2005 to go on to win her first major, she has lost all her matches against the current top 3 players. Lost to Amelie 5 times ( once in 05, 3 times 06 and just now in 07), Justine 3 times (all in 06) and Maria three times (twice in 06 and once in 07).

That is 0-11. Terrible record. Can she overcome this?

Dark_Necrofear - February 19, 2007 11:47 AM (GMT)
I actually think that she is more bothered with babies and wedding bells. Its actually quite sickening because its another prime example of great talent going to waste so young.

I really like this girl but her priorities have changed.I mean she isnt playing the French Open!Anyway, lets see what happens!

trisco - February 19, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
Find it bizarre she is skipping the French... Does this prove there needs to be a bigger gap between the French and Wimbledon? Or maybe Kim is thinking her body ain't upto pounding around Roland Garros then onto the quick courts of SW19. Maybe she is right to do this in her final year. Although she maybe putting all her eggs in one basket in concentrating solely on SW19, she would be incredibly disappointed if it doesn't turn out her way. To be honest, I can't see her defeating any of the top players there.

I do think though that a rethink of the schedule for RG and SW19 would poss be beneficial. Maybe we could get more tournaments here in the UK then? :D

SerenaW19 - February 19, 2007 12:01 PM (GMT)
I think Kim's 0-11 record is the most interesting, Id always suspected its existence but never confirmed it. It truly is abysmal considering how highly Kim was ranked for the most of those losses, and especially the losses against Maria and Amelie, who she used to own. She has been injured a lot recently I suppose (when hasn't she though?).

I think it's such a shame that Kim could never build on her USO 2005 win, it reminds a lot of how Sabatini never won another slam after such an emphatic triumph in the 1990 USO. They really are the One Slam Wonders

I think Im correct in saying that Sabatini tries to stay away from tennis these days, I suspect Kim will also do this for a while...could it be that at the end of the day neither wanted it, quite enough

Sabitini I dont know why she stays away from the sport that gave her her life but I suppose retirement for her meant a clean break.

Kim did want it badly but she also, and I have said this so many times before, she also wants to be friends with the world badly. So its a toss between that and titles and we all know what sh picks.

Im so furious with her.Maybe I should start a post "Kim cant Rally" ;)

LOL!

SerenaW19 - February 19, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)
roflmao - I think...Kim doesn't want to rally would be more accurate ;)

I would personally hate it if there was a bigger gap between the two. I think it is what makes them special. Anyone who pulls off the Rolland Garros/Wimbledon Double is a superb player. It's a real test. I like to leave it the way it is.....

Kim may not want to rally, but she can pull off a dress with the best of them....

in defence of kim clijsters' retirement, she's tired of her body breaking down. she's tired of the aches and pains. she's tired of the lapses in her schedule where she can't play.

:ok: Agreed. I feel she has brought a lot of sportsmanship to the game and will be missed.

Imagine how broken her body is going to be after she pops out a few brats and has to crack the pots....She is IMO stupid to retire early.Anyone remember Kimoko Date'?She wanted to retire when she was on top of the game.Evidently,on top for her was world number 7.Kim may have achieved a bit more but really she is only 23.She can take a page out of the Willaims books and choose what to play, not play every damn thing!

vivahate - February 19, 2007 01:34 PM (GMT)
clijsters of the last couple of seasons is not the same clijsters of say 02-03...

Dark_Necrofear - February 19, 2007 01:39 PM (GMT)
vivahate, that Clijsters from those years was something else.Hungry, deadly and determined. This new Clijsters is the same,Hungry for babies, determined to walk down the isle and deadly stupid for retiring!

Ay guys,Im just venting.I love this girl and it pains me to see her go this way!

vivahate - February 19, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)

I think the same. I wish she can put her all on the line before she actually retires, otherwise she may have regrets down the years!

Amelie was not really convincing in her win over Chakvetadze in the semis and remember she lost to Petrova last week. Yet, Kim could not defeat Amelie.

Also remembering Kim's losses to JH at the Wimby and French open semis last year. She just looked like she didn't want to win! The killer looks that she had playing against Venus and Maria at the 2005 USO has disappeared!

Well, good luck to Kim, hope that she will win a bit more!

At 23 when you are a pro, your life is only tennis!

I few people have defied this and are still a sucess, mainly the williams. Put it this way, Kim my favourite ball machine is passed her sell by date and she has noticed it. Before she had that injury she was quite good but she was another amelie (choker), remember the wimbledon she played Venus in the semis.

Ps Dark, amongst all the pictures you could have of Serena, why do you pic the exagerrated godzilla one?

lalitha - February 19, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
You got it right there. :ok: When u look at guys like Momo and Juju, they really have the fire to go on...to win big titles. When u don't have that,u better quit.Nevertheless,I really loved the girl...wished she could do more stuff on court.

Dark_Necrofear - February 19, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
The most notible choke will always be that Aussie Open.5-1 lead in the 3rd against Serena and then what happens,Hymelich Manoevre was needed!

That pic was against Nadia Tomatoe and when she pulled that expression,I had no doubt that she would win the title. Its a symbol of hunger and Kim should actually look at it and draw strength from it and it go's for anyone!

You know when you choke on food and someone comes form behind, puts their arms around you and jerk you up and down, thats what that is and that didnt even help because she still lost!

vivahate - February 19, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
umm...the choke ;)

Honestly, I still didnt think she'll win. I thought she was just fronting thats why I kept making my "predictions" even though I regret them I'll do it again because she seems to be going back to her same old self. £50 says you'll see her at the oscar's with her "flu".

I keep on watching the match with pottypova and I am trying to find various explanations for that massacre but my brother says his version is better. Serena is a sneaky shit who got everybody fooled.

Thats why she will be at the Oscars to collect Best Female Actress In a Leading Role beacuse she really is a damn good actress!Flu and and all,she is all about collecting accolades! roflmao

COme on guys, Give Kim a break! She is gonna retire anyway and maybe she has had enough of injuries. Maybe she is sick and tired of playing well below par and losing to players she shouldnt lose to due to injuries! Maybe she sees more to life than tennis. Dont we all? We all have jobs or are working (generalisisng). DOnt we all wish, to go away for sometime and not think about the job? Iam just trying to defend a lovely person here

BIG-TODGER - March 19, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
Kim seems to have thrown in the towel mentally regarding her tennis career. She's doubtful about playing the US Open, missing the French.
It's great on a personal note, but she may have well retired after the US Open. It's hard to have a go at someone for putting there family first, but part of you thinks what a waist of talent.
