Title: CC's Room 101

Nick Havoc - November 3, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
The discussion about smoking made me think it might be interesting to have a thread talking about what your peeves are. Here's one of mine:

I'm not really a frequent air traveler, but I probably go on 3-4 trips per year by air. At 6' 3" (1.90 m), I generally don't have a whole lot of leg room to start with, but I always seem to be seated behind someone who wants to recline their seat-back at the first opportunity. Maybe it's just because I am tall and have had this problem many times, but I would never do that, without at least having a look behind me first. Most people (at least those that sit in from of me) just slam the seat back. I can't tell you how many times I've ended up with a sore knee-cap from that.

timmadigan - November 3, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
Add to that, I hate people on airplanes who feel the need to take both arm-rests along with part of my seat/leg room. The seats are small enough as is (i'm 6') and I don't need them crowding me.

It's gotten to the point that I take the 2 1/2 hr train to my corporate office when I need to go instead of the 45min flight.

SerenaW19 - November 3, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
Nick, snap big time!!!

When we flew to New York this summer it wasn't the case of the person in front putting it back at the first opportunity it was the case of when they wanted to go to sleep putting it ALL the way back.

It was also the fact that we had paid extra money to fly Premium Economy on Virgin so we had more leg room. I made it quite well known to the man in front that I wasn't going to have all my leg room taken away in one fell swoop. (I have quite long legs). He kept insisting and trying to put it back but I kept blocking him with my legs. We had a massive argument and woke up most of the upper deck but I bascially told him and that useless stewardess where to get off and that I was not yielding my space and that was the end of the matter :)

awwww, you poor tall people!

as a shortie, I hate all the tall people who insist on standing infront of me at gigs, or sitting infront of me at the cinema (though, since we have the lovely Warner cinema now, thats not a problem) - I moaned so much when I went to see True Romance that the bloke infront kindly swapped with his much shorter mate :)

Pebs - November 3, 2006 07:10 PM (GMT)
Sunday drivers....

especially when they are out practicing during the rest of the week

I have a number of short friends (barely over 5') and dated a girl who was 5' 0", so I'm always carefull about ensuring they can see.

:D Driving peeves could probably be a whole discussion unto itself. I get more annoyed with overagressive drivers, though. If there's and inch more than a car length between me and the car in front of me, someone invariably will try to force his way into that space.

My mate is onyl 5ft and she hates it too. We were at a Fun Boy Three concert years back and had to keep moving cos tall blokes always stood in front of her. I could see ok as I am a reasonable height but my poor friedn got ever so annoyed and had a go at this guy! roflmao

I suspect the poor bloke who had to move was more careful about where he sat in future too.... :D

I feel for your mate hun! At the Foo Fighters gig I went to in the summer, I found myself a nice spot and was happily singing along and some eejits came and stood right infront of me... so I pushed my way through them and stood infront of them, on their toes to make my point.... <blush>

ah yes... I know what you mean - I have been known to be non too pleasant in my descriptions of people who insist on inserting themselves in the stopping space I left between myself and the driver infront....

sometimes I spot them coming in my mirror - and its the only time I pull up closer to the car infront, to ensure they cant get in... nothing like watching them zoom up in the middle lane, just to have to fall back when they cant get in :D

in contrast, people who insist on slowing to five miles a sodding hour for speed cameras, or stopping completely for empty roundabouts with nothing around for miles deserve a good slap too....

maybe I should see someone about my road-rage....

I HATE idiots who leave their mobile switched on at all times, and disturb the peace in restaurants, bars etc. by it constantly going off and then they shout in it so as everyoen can hear the conversations. I think that people who ar ento discreet on the phone must have sometign wrong. I don't want people knowing my business so I talk quitely or leave the room.. But some of them just want to show off, liek soem businessmen who start trying to sound all important talkign dead loud abotu their latest deal and how much money they are making etc. I reckon they are lyign so I just laugh at them. :D A girl on the bus answered her phone th eother day and my GOD was she loud! Think chav, think that character from Catherine Tate "Am I bovvered?" or Vicki Pollard. :  It was such a shock and so funny I laughed otu loud at her but she didn't get it. Everyoen else laughed too. roflmao

It annoys me even more when there are signs like in hospitals where it says you MUSt turn off your mobile before entering. This guy stood at reception and has phone kept ringing and he'd answer, then it went off again. Security came over and told him to stop it ringing. He said it wasnt; his fault it rang, so i said try turning it off, that would help! And made s wift exit when I saw his reaction! roflmao

George cracked me up when we walked past a guy makign a phonecall in the street. It was obvious he was callign India by the conversation adn he was sooo loud! George shouted "does he need a bloody phone? They can probabaly hear him in India" roflmao

Good for you! :D

The worst flight I've ever had was probably when we were coming back from Miami. This toddler was crying the entire journey basically (8 hours) except take-off and landing, oddly enough. It was SO frustrating!

I hate people who sit at their table and chat on the cell phone. At least where I am, most people look down on you when you do that - if the phone rings and you must answer it, you take the call outside or in the hall. I've seen people walk up to others at table and say something - usually older gentlemen who you resond to - they could be Senators, Congressmen or, more importantly, people who could have you killed with their one phone call :)

Yep that used to pee me off chronic when I went to clubs. I'm form Nottingham and the women there have very sharp elbows in such situations, so me and my mate use dt go out and limber up in our space by throwing our elbows out a lot.
