Title: How smart are you?
Ace - February 12, 2007 06:24 AM (GMT)
Take the IQ test:
http://www.testcafe.com/iqtest/my results:
Congratulations!
Your general IQ score is 154.
A person whose IQ score falls in the range of 144-160 is considered to be "gifted".
An IQ is a composite of your scores across 12 distinct aspects of intelligence. Each person has a unique intellectual make-up, with strengths and weaknesses that affect their methods of understanding, recognition, communication and association. Using a carefully cross-reference scoring scheme, TestCafe is able to accumulate a profound quantity of information about your natural intellectual abilities.
For example, your Pattern Recognition score is 100.
bleh...i should have gotten higher but i got annoyed towards the end.

I was a member of MENSA when i was 12, which my mum had great delight in bragging about. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, the higher the IQ of a person, the lower the common sense, and its certainly true with me  However, having a really high IQ doesnt make you intelligent though, even though i was great at solving puzzles and i was great at maths and a straight A student, i still decided to leave school early to work in a kebab shop

IQ tests are fun, but generally if you have a high IQ it means you are good at answering IQ questions rather than equating to your general overall intelligence.
I once saw some information (which I had no reason to distrust) that put Noel Gallagher's IQ at 160 and Carol Vorderman's IQ at 154 (which sounds about right) and Einstein's only at 160 - (180 max) Im sorry bit if Einstein and Noel Gallagher are that close in intelligence then the world is mad and I will kill myself now roflmao
liam_valid - February 12, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
That is funny!!!! Having said that, it must take an amount of intelligence to compose music and write lyrics to his quality, its that k###head brother of his who is the neanderthal
Nick Havoc - February 12, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
My IQ is 161. :D
(Actually, I don't really know, as I've never taken a real IQ test, but I just liked the sound of being one point better than Einstein.)

I think it is possible to have IQ of more than 180 though?

I meant 180 was the maximum they estimated for Einstein...
On that Simpsons episode when Steven Hawking came on they said he had an IQ of 280...now that is high  roflmao

Apparently the world record is 196 - find a source that disporves it though! :D
with Stephen Hawking it's so unbelievably sad that such a genius is unlucky enough to be in that state :(
POSCARS HOST - February 12, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Having done the IQ test, I have to say that it is of a frankly quite basic standard.
I got 158, but that was more due to the fact that almost every question had some link to some sort of mathematical proof.
Not a very thorough test :(
SuperBRAT - February 12, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
I don't think IQ tests measure your intelligence, at least not in it's entirity. People with high IQs can be terrible problem solvers indeed, as well as lack common sense. You can aslo fluke your score and it can vary. I've had a very high score and also an average one. I did a few when I was younger and qulaified for Mensa, but saw no point joining it just to brag off about my supposed intelligence. IMO intelligence shoudl be measured also by putting people in 'real' situations and seeing how they handle them.
SerenaW19 - February 12, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
So many members of MENSA on CC...it must have gone downhill roflmao :P

I used to know someone who was big in MENSA - personally I think they were thick as pigsh*t! roflmao

I don't know whether I would have qualified for MENSA or not - personally I can't be arsed roflmao
I'm sure I would because I was one of the most gifted people in our school

we were TRAINED to do intelligent tests for the 11+ (we're talking about 1945!!!) exam - and believe me, the more you do, the better you get.
Nowadays, I don't dare do one - am afraid it will confrm my worst fears :D

I remember passing that test for a grammar school when I was 8 :yahoo:

barrystar - February 13, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
I'd be very surprised if anyone got less than 140, 150 even (I got 157). They are trying to sell intelligence tests, only if the opening test suggests to punters that they might be able to prove that they are clever are said punters likely to go on and spend some money.

As I thought he was only a year older than me, in which case he would've done SATs not 11+, of course perhaps things are different in England and Wales

Do you study mathematics then, Sam? :ok:
And I agree, intelligence tests (particularly automated once like this) are a bunch of nonsense. How can you possibly put a number to something like that? Also, you can definitely train for them, so it's not really intelligence they are measuring, is it?
Also, I think the 11+ still exists in those areas that still have grammar schools. Or am I getting something mixed up?

The 11+ still exists where i am in lincolnshire, but we still have a grammer school.
it does depend where abouts in the country you are :)
i was 4 marks off passing, the teachers wanted me to contest it, but i decided id rather be in the top groups at the school i went to, rather than struggling in the bottom groups at the grammer school.

I took the 11+ as the entry requirement for Leicester Grammar school when I was 8 - the junior school encouraged me to do it and I passed it!
Still, I was never going to the Grammar school, and it hasn't done me any harm not to anyway :)

I did SATS too SW19 - got three 6's in the end, then got an EP (maths) and 8's in Science and English!
I loved it when I got level 8 in English - my teacher was an absolute bitch, had no sense of humour and thus didn't like me, despite the fact I was clever and in her top group. She predicted I would get level 5 in English having got 6 at junior school! roflmao
Needless to say, on the last day of term at the high school, I left her a real poison letter, basically saying, thatnks for nothing, hope my success hurt you. I felt really strongly about it
But it was sooooo sweet! :D
