Title: One Truth

liam_valid - February 7, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
This is a fun game. You put 3 statements about yourself, two of them false, and the others have to guess which is the truth. The first correct poster goes next. I will start with:

I was a big Navratilova fan when i was a kid.

I was a big Lendl fan when i was a kid.

I never really watched tennis when i was a kid.

(bet you all thought i was gonna be more risque then :P )

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
You never really watched tennis as a kid.

Nav fan??

I'm pretty sure this must be the right answer.

BTW    to Martina for winning a last GS doubles title at almost 50 years of age!

mightyjeditribble - February 7, 2007 11:11 AM (GMT)
OK, I'll post one in the same vein as Liam ...

1) I was a Steffi Grad fan when I was a kid

2) I was a Bjoern Borg fan when I was a kid

3) I was a fan of Barney the Dinosaur when I was a kid

Barney??

SuperBRAT - February 7, 2007 02:18 PM (GMT)
A Borg fan?

I'll do one

When I was a teenager, which of the following fashion/music trends did I follow?

1. a punk - I had loads of earings, a red Mohican hairstyle, tartan bondage trousers and ripped mini skirts with safety pins and dodgy fishnet tights! And loads of wierd make up.

2. a goth - wore long black dresses, PVC, white face make up, purple lipstick and loads of eyeliner, died my hair black and had a white streak in it.

3. a mod - I wore vintage 60s clothing, black and white mini dresses, two tone jackets, with a geometric bob hairstyle, white lipstick and bright blue eye make up.

trisco - February 7, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... tough one SB. I would have you down as a Mod/Punk in your teens actually.. Can I go for a cross between option - A Munk? :D roflmao

SB as a monk? Could you imagine it??! lol

In all seriousness I'd say Punk in terms as your age as you seem too young to have been a Mod, or maybe you were just a late Mod?? Actually yes, Mod, but not in the Mod era obviously. :)

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Hmm. I think you're a bit to old to have been a Barney fan. I'll go with Steffi fan. Since the other two choices have been taken, that means one of us has to be right. And I'll say that SB had a punk phase.

roflmao A very confident answer there, trisco. Perhaps she was a Moth . . . or a Gunk. :D

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
OK, when I was a tennager, I:

1. Had a minor part in our high-school production of the musical Bye Bye Birdie.

2. Played drums in the marching band.

3. Ran track (but not very well).

Not sure about SB's punk status, but you were spot on with supposing I was a bit of a Steffi fan. :)

While I was really into dinosaurs as a child, I certainly never liked Barney ... Actually, I don't think he ever made it across to Germany at all, at least not during my youth. I came across him first during my exchange year in the US, and my most lasting memory is the brilliant "Barkley vs Barney" SNL sketch ... :) :) :)

I'll be bold and go for you in 'Bye bye birdie' ... if it's not true, it should be!

Roysie - February 7, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
Track?

mightyjeditribble - February 7, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
Seeing as no one has done so, I'll go for SB as a goth!

OK, here's another one. During my university years (that is, during my years at university as a STUDENT, I should clarify ... seeing as though I'm actually at university right now!), I played

1) the violin in several youth orchestras;

2) live role-playing games; I played a slightly disorganized elf wizard called Goran who kept misplacing his spellbook

3) the eponymous character in a student production of 'Hamlet'.

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
elf-wizard??

I'd have you down as a Drummer Boy Nick I think... the whole rythymic military type Supreme Overlord thing going on!! roflmao

Roysie, by track I guess the British term is just running I think? As in 100/200 other metres etc? (I think)

MJT, I quite like the idea of you being a forgetful elf?! I'm quite confident with that guess too. (For some reason )

trisco - February 7, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
Ok elf wizard gone already

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
Actually, I cheated. Mine was really all-of-the-above. :ban:

liam_valid - February 7, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
Sorry all just logged on!!!! I really never liked Navhavamoanalotova as i liked to call her. I became interested in tennis whilst watching Ivan Lendl at wimbledon. I thought he was an unbelievable athlete and so dedicated to his sport. It was his failiure to win SW19 that turned me into such a passionate WTA fan!!!!

Nick Havoc - February 7, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
I'll give you another one, though, and this time I promise only one of the three will be true. In high school, I was also one of the star members of the:

1. Math team

2. Chess club

3. Quiz bowl

Tenez - February 7, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Along those lines ...

a - I was a fan of Agassi

b - I was a fan of Sampras

c - I have 9 brothers and sisters

....only one is true

Roysie - February 7, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
OK guys - my turn:

1 - I attended a church service with Charles & Di.

2 - I play the guitar.

3 - I can bend my thumb back to reach my wrist.

trisco - February 7, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
My throw guys,

to do with tennis..

I once lost to a 12 yr old at the age of 25 because he started crying when I was beating him

I play double handed on both sides

Over 15 years, I have never, not ONCE defeated my best friend.

trisco - February 7, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
Oops, Roysie beat me to it
