Hello peeps,
Was hoping to ask some advice about when to get my racket re-strung.
I've got a Babolat Drive Z-lite that I picked up last summer strung with Xcel Comfort strings.
Except for a couple of months since then I've been playing for about 4 hours weekly and I'm now finding that at a number of the string junctions the outer layers of the strings are fraying and there are signs of distress at the most of the rest.
Does this mean that I'm about to hear a horrifying 'PING' noise in the middle of a game soon? :yikes: Or will the strings last for a good time yet.
To be honest, if they're going to break soon I'd rather get it re-strung than lose a couple of hours on court that I've already paid for. The price of re-stringing here in Paris is rather cheap, a long way away from when I last played as a kid (15-20 years ago) when you bought a racket and if the strings went you simply bought a new one as getting the strings fixed was about the same price as a new racket.
Any sage advice gratefully accepted.

If you have doubts, ask someone who knows about tennis nearby! It's not easy to judge via a computer whether you need a restring or not!
If in doubt, do something!
General advice is that you should restring a racquet as many times a year as you play a week. So if you play 3 times a week - you should restring at least 3 times a year.
Personally I have no problem with a string breaking while I'm playing (after all I'm not on the pro circuit !). I always carry several spare identical racquets. Perhaps you should consider at least having one spare racquet - it amazes me the number of fairly serious club players (even my doubles partner) who do not carry an identical spare racquet !
If you play a reasonable amount (like I do) then you get a feeling for when a string either: should be replaced; or is about to break anyway. I'm happy enough to let mine break, it happens often enough that I never have old strings on any of my racquets ...
