Wow, Justine has such an easy quarter, unless Golovin or Patty should produce something spectacular, Justine should ease through to the semis :)
Kuzy has possibly Srebotnik in the next round( potential upset  ), unless Sveta has stepped it up since the Aussie, but Sveta is such an enigma
Safarova and Rezai loom for vaidisova as well in that quarter. Rezai with her hme backing and that fearsome forehand will be a tough encounter for the Czech.
Petrova also has a cakewalk into the quarters, where she'll probably face the former champ Safina. Would be an intresting tussle, both trying to forget their Aussie Open dissapointments( Petrova failed to serve out Serena, Safina thrashed by Li)
Mauresmo in her first outing since flopping in Oz, should make the quarters, despite the dangerus floater Dechy and the talented Italian Garbin possibly awaiting her. Mauresmo though on a fast court loks safe for the quarters though, but somehow if Anna were to get that far, i could smell an upset ;)
Intresting first rounds:
Chakvetdaze vs Poutchkova- both tremendous hitters of the ball, another battle of the russian teens........
Rezai vs Vaidisova- forehands galore, or possibly forehand errors galore
Safarova vs Bovina- Can bovina finally get some match confidence back?
LDF - February 4, 2007 02:27 PM (GMT)
The second quarter is so tough! :o
I don't have much to add to your post though dl, I agree with pretty much all of it :ok:
SerenaW19 - February 4, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
Looks like a great tier 2
The Dav - February 4, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
I don't know if I should move the threads in the Tokyo forum into previous tournaments
Anyway, can't wait to see Justine return, other than that, not too bothered about this one
Awesome_Agassi - February 4, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
It's hard to call but I would be shocked if Amelie didn't reach the final. Her record here is very impressive, with 2 titles and 3 further finals (I wish she could do this well at the other, considerably bigger, tournament in Paris). Petrova is probably her main threat before the final, and she did thrash Mauresmo last time out in Madrid, although Amelie would be out for revenge. With Justine I'm sure, although she does have a proven track record of being out of action for ages, and then picking up immediately where she left off. I just hope that her personal issues don't weigh her down. There is a chance that she will play semi-nemesis Danilidou in the 2nd round, although away from grass Justine would be the huge favourite. If's safe to say that Kuznetsova won't pose her problems if they meet. Justine leads the h2h a paltry 12-1. Hopefully we get an henin-mauresmo final. I love it when these two play.
SerenaW19 - February 4, 2007 08:16 PM (GMT)
A Henin Momo final would be great. With Justine winning :D

Definately. I've never forgiven Momo for denying Justine the career grand slam at Wimbledon .

I haven't stopped loving Mauresmo since the Wimbledon final! :P :P

I really hope Elena Bovina wins a match here - she may have a very 1 dimensional game (big serve and forehand) but when she was at her best she was quite a tough competitor. Safarova should beat her considering her Australian Open QF run but Lucie is a bit inconsistent really in my opinion.

Elena withdrew at the last minute for 'unknown reasons' :(

Safina loses the first set 6-2 to Camille Pin :o
Pin only lost 4 points on serve in the whole set!
What has happened to Dinara since the Gold Coast?
SerenaW19 - February 7, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
liam_valid - February 7, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
its now 3-3 in the final set. I was going to predict Safina to win 2-1 but i changed my mind at the last minute
The Dav - February 7, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
I predicted 2-1 :D Come on Dina!!!
liam_valid - February 7, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
Pin breaks :yikes: shes serving at 4-3 final set
liam_valid - February 7, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
Ooops Pin chokes and its back on serve
liam_valid - February 7, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
But Safina is broken again and Pin will serve for the match
LDF - February 7, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
Safina won 7-6(5) in the 3rd :)

Strange match going on in Paris at the moment.
Golovin has just taken the first set 6-2 against Cornet but Cornet has only won 2 points on her own serve! Golovin has broken 4 times and only held twice!!
SerenaW19 - February 7, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
That match is annoying me as I predicted Cornet to win a set, and if she could just serve a bit better she might
liam_valid - February 7, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
lol she holds!!! She must have heard you SW :P
SerenaW19 - February 7, 2007 07:03 PM (GMT)
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Cornet lost in straights! 62 62
felixsanchez - February 7, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
