Title: Its my tennis board birthday!!!
liam_valid - January 29, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
It has been eactly a year now since i got pissed off with the arguaments on the Radio 1 forum i frequented and started posting on the BBC tennis forum. I arrived in the wake of JHH bashers out in force, and Selesfans infamous AO behaviour. The first people to befriend me on there were Hiro, HingisR (should that be a comma or a /) and strangely enough, SF herself (that must speak volumes about having those 3 as forum chums  )!!!! Back then there was much lively debate and hardly any troll activity and it was a great board. I even managed to win a PTA doubles tournament with Scoobs :D Even though i joined CC just after it was created, i stayed with the BBC til the end in the hope it would get back to it's former glory, but i have really only started posting on here on a regular basis since i left Leicester (and my control freak ex) behind!!!! Ive met some great people on here and the BBC in this last year, and hope i will still be year next time to celebrate my 2nd tennis board birthday
POSCARS HOST - January 29, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
Good on you Liam - I actually thought you'd been on even longer than that! :D
How can you leave a city as perfect and vibrant as Leicester though? I'm shocked, we have everything, National Space Centre, Pork Pies, All the crisp companies, impossible parking in the city, and towns with inventive names, such as around our ex-mining areas (Coalville, Bagworth (as in bag worth of coal! roflmao ))
happy 2nd anyway
SerenaW19 - January 29, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
Happy Birthday :D
It's funny to think I havn't been posting on tennis message boards for even a year yet :o
Roysie - January 29, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)

Btw glad you have got rid of the control freak ex. Any control freak is bad news, but livign with one is even worse.
Pebs - January 29, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
way to go lovey! many congrats on your tennis birthday...
I have no idea when mine is, but I feel like I have been posting a very long time indeed...
Tennis_Mad_Andy - January 29, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
Yayyy :D I think its about a year for me too! I joined the BBC last year when Henman was into the semi-finals of Zagreb and then lost because his back gave him trouble :( Thats the first time I came on to the world of tennis messageboards, so we must have joined at around the same time Liam :)
liam_valid - January 29, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Yes, i was shocked when Hopelesshenman et al started bashing him :o I had never heard of people being negative about someone i thought was a national treasure before, so i usually avoided Henman threads so i didnt get into arguaments
The Dav - January 29, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
Happy birthday Liam  It seems like you've been around for much longer

SerenaW19 - January 29, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
I started viewing the board at the AO 2006 to see how people thought Serena would do at her title defence. Unfortunately all the haters saying she was fat and would crash out were right roflmao
I think I joined in march in anticipation of Venus' return to action :yahoo:

I think I started READING the beeb around Wimbledon 2005, did some very cautious and infrequent posting (everyone seemed so knowledgeable and such a tight-knit group - a bit difficult to break into, esp on Heyup, actually). I think it must be about a year ago that I started to post more and discovered how friendly people are. My family fall over themselves laughing about their 72 year old mother / grandmother contributing to a chat room - friends of my own age quite seriously think I'm losing it. Anyway, thanks to you all for a great year!

Me too! I didn't hold back from going onto the threads though, used to get wound up a bit when people slated him

In fact Pebs, i never really got speaking to you until the BBC announced its closure, even though i seen your name mentioned all the time (along with bunnypaw) I think it's quite strange we never posted on the same threads (although we probably crossed paths on Henmans live scores threads :))

towards the end hun, I hardly posted there. It kind of lost something for me with all the 'removal of posts' wars and the odd moderating and then the three minute rule.
But I should imagine we crossed in a Henman thread like you say ;)
I dont know if you can still read old threads from the fivelive boards, but if you go back to the beginning, you will see a fair few of us from here battling it out :)

You know LDF, with that new avatar of yours, the image I have of you has totally changed...Compared to the old Lindsay in a blue shirt one. The old one suited your image better. I mean, I don't imagine LDF as this sleevless guy always in vacation in tropical zones...
