Title: Is Friendship More Important Than Winning For Kim?

Having watched the start of this match before I left for the office,I was lead to think about this.
Acclaimed Australian commentator and former tennis player Fred Stolle says that Kim Clijsters is the most liked tennis player in the locker room by everyone.Well maybe not by Justine :D She also won the fan awards for favourite player! He then went on to say that Maria Sharapova isnt like at all, much like Justine Henin Hardenne.
This then lead me to believe that this is what separates winners from losers. And Kim,as much as I love her,is a loser because she is too nice!Sharapova just killed her something terrible and Justine also does the same thing to her. Before the match, she was at courtside watching Serena train before her match.Hugging and Kissing her and having a good old chat!I mean really she should have been honing her mind to do one thing and thats destroy Masha, but she was too busy strengthening friendships rather than her mind. She had so many chances,SO MANY and she couldnt capitilise!
I watched a documentary on Jimmy Connors 2 days ago.His mother was his coach and you know what she told him.She said "Everyone is your enemy! You have no friends on tour. These people will steal your food off your table!"Needless to say that Jimmy wasnt liked that much but he was a winner.
I hope Kim can find a way to be hardcore in this her last year and go out winning like a b!tch! But she just wont do that!

I guess it's her life, and her priorities, and she has not exactly been a failure.
Tennis fans are entitled to get a bit grumpy, however, when they see someone lose a match that was theirs for the taking when what we really want to see is gladiatorial combat (without the lions, swords etc.).

She has been a failure in snatching her Grand Slam chances because she is too nice or afraid of Justine.Im not saying that Justine didnt play well, its just that they had that fight and Kim was focused on getting her good books rather than taking her chances.
Today, she had that match in the bag!Heaven knows what went wrong.I love this girl and want her to go out on a high!

from Kim's post-Sharapova thrashing...
"But I've never been the type of person who thinks it's the end of the world when I lose a match."
i think this attitude is what everyone is talking about

I would hardly say Kim had the match in the bag. Maria was playing awesome tennis in patches. Kim could have made it closer, but i never seen her winning this

I think she did have it in the bag.She created all the chances but didnt capitilise on any especially in the first set!But I suppose thats tennis!
