Alright, it's 5 am and I'm knackered, but Serena's through 7-6(7-5) 6-4 :yahoo:
Fantastic match, Serena let a 5-1 lead go in the tb and then 5-1 in the second roflmao Sooo tense, but she's through :ok:
Now, Kim v Maria  And some coffee!

This was definitely the better semi-final; high quality tennis from both women. Serena stuck to her gameplan of attacking the Vaidisova backhand moving the Czech around the court and she did it effectively enough to get the win.
I was a little worried when Serena hit double faults in a row in the tiebreak, but thankfully she recovered and it looked like she would steam through the second set. I have to commend Nicole for fighting back - she just relaxed herself and started hitting freely again. I was so nervous at the end though, especially when it to 30-30 in the final game  roflmao
Well done Serena!

Well done to Serena.. she's had an amazing couple of weeks given her relative lack of match practice, etc, etc.
Whilst the draw did open up for her nicely with so many top players going out, she's grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
And a final with Sharapova too.. could well be a titanic contest (well, hopefully!)!!

All I can say is "wow". I questioned her when she made comments about her loss in the warm up tournament thinking she was just making things seem worse and thinking she was being arrogant.
She has proven me wrong. Even though she may not be at her best physically, mentally she is right up there with the best, possibly even at a higher level than anyone else. This run to the final has again made people scared to face her I think. It will be interesting to see if Sharapova has the head and fights it out with her. I think Sharapova is made of sterner stuff and will make more of a fight with it than the girl's Serena has played so far. But is that enough to stop Serena? I am not so sure.
Whichever way you look at it it's good to have Serena back in a GS final.

I've said on other threads, Serena has done great to get to the final, but how many genuine top players has she played? none. I believe Mauresmo would have had the nous to take her out, and i feel Maria's different level of consistent power hitting is going to cause Serena real problems with her movement. if Maria drives into the final positively she will win!
But well done to Serena nonetheless for getting this far, it will be interestiong to see if she can be bothered for the rest of the season this time... (The last two years she has been to the AO, then disappeared)
