Title: Scheduling

Federer-Williams - January 23, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
So tommorow is:

Chekvadaendfsnsdf - Sharapova
Hingis - Clijsters

But does this mean the semi-final from the top half will be played the day after with Serena-Vaidasova?

Or does it mean that Serena-Vaidasova first day and then tophalf semifinal on the day after?

Does the winner of Serena-Vaidasova gain a day of rest? Confused

On Thursday it'll be both women's semi-finals and Roddick v Federer :)

So Fed-Wil is right then, the winners of tonights womens quarters will not get a day off, where Serena and Vaidisova have???

Yep :ok:

I know it means that the winner of Serena/Nicole would've played a match less in the last few days leading up to the final, but both finalists still get the Friday off which should be enough to recuperate :)

Hardly fair is it? Still, Kim won't be stopped by anything!! Except, God forbid, a dicky wrist

I once read that those who have a much longer rest don't always find it an advantage, as they find it difficult to gee themselves up again for the next match. The routine for normal tournaments is a match a day, or every other day (although those are best of 3 for the men). There are now 5 days left and the likes of Roddick/Federer, Vaidisova/Williams have a maximum of 2 matches to play.

I guess my point is that it's a balance.

If the players don't like it they can push for less regard to be paid to TV scheduling whilst accepting that they will get less money...

I agree Barry the scheduling is as good as it can be :)

I prefer the way wimbledon do it with the men playing one day and the women the next. It was a little disappointing last night with the stadium half empty til the guys started playing

Even for Serena's match :o

I didn't notice to be honest; Id forgotten that Wimbledon did it like that actually.

I prefer the Wimbledon way too - but the Aus Open is a decent enough compromise and they all seem to get a proper rest. I guess you can pick and chose like they do when you have a roof and don't need to avoid over-playing on a grass court.

The US Open with super saturday used to be a farce with the women's final sandwiched between the two men's semi's on saturday. The winner of the 2nd semi should have been at huge disadvantage, although I don't know what an analysis of the results would show.

Whoever wins the men's semi on Thursday has to decide what to do on Friday and Saturday - I would have thought he will want a decent work-out on at least one of those days.

I prefer the Wimby way too. You knwo where you are and it also gives each gender's sport it's own showcase.

Thanks for clearing that up. ;)2

Do you think Sharapova will be happy having her spots showcased? :o

:ok:

The US Open is probably the most difficult to keep track of, because the first round spans over 3 days and then it can get a little confusing

Especially when the rain becomes a factor
