Another slide show for you - with nice cheesy music too this time!
Top 10 Tennis HeroesThe question is
Who is your hero? And also, do you think they've missed anyone?
Or do you think there is anyone on that list who doesn't deserve to be there?
SerenaW19 - January 22, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
Well seeing as Serena isn't there
I've had to go for Martina Navratilova :D
Dinky Jo - January 22, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
I've gone for Blake, he's just come back from so much!
Oh, and obviously, I think Federer should be on the list, because of his charity work, both for his own charity and for UNICEF! But, you know, i may be a wee bit biased! ;)2

I assume, based on the slate of nominees, they're talking about someone who has overcome adversity and/or broken down barriers in the sport. An that basis, there are several great candidtes there. It's hard to pick. A few other worthy notables might include:
Jennifer Capriati for coming back after her life hit rock-bottom.
Sania Mirza for breaking down barriers in her home country.
Althea Gibson

I'm not sure why Wayne Arthurs is up there, but maybe just because I'm not that familiar with his life story.

Seles, the most bravest woman ever in tennis :)
liam_valid - January 22, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
Seles gets my vote. Mind you i picked her before i even knew what the poll was about

I was surprised to see Blake in there, I thought it would just be like legends and when I saw the likes of Agassi, Seles and Navratalova I realised that it must have been, but i'm not sure I would put Blake in that sort of catagory yet. Hes a very good player for sure though.

as a youngster, Jimmy Connors was my hero for sheer guts and drive, he was also the first sportsman I knew of who was asthmatic.
I loved watching Nastase play too.
On the ladies side, whilst not a heroine, Sue Barker certainly made we 'boys of a certain age' notice tennis a bit more, oh and Evonne Goolagong too

James Blake has been through a hell of a lot, kudos for him he doesn't go on about it more often, what a dude! For me the biggest hero is Monica. But Blake is a close second...
vivahate - January 24, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)

Monica Davriati - January 27, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
