Title: Gasquet: time for a new coach?

As I watched Gasquet-Robredo I couldn't help thinking Richard really needs to start using his arsenal more effectively. The strange paradox I saw was that although Gasquet hits the ball easily, he hardly wins points easily.

He was constantly standing far behind the baseline and therefore made it very easy for Robredo to wait for a short ball, since he was able to run down most of Gasquet's groundstrokes.

Isn't there someone who could make Gasquet use his talents to the fullest?

Interesting point..

He was beaten quite soundly by Robredo, by the looks of the stats, at least. And regardless of his positioning behind the baseline, the fact that he had 78(?)% first serve and still had 21 break points against him makes me think that his serve needs work.

Gasquet is no longer an unknown quantity either, and maybe does need fresh input.

Peter Lundgren would have been a good bet, as he did well with Safin and of course Federer. But he's working for the LTA for the Davis cup. Maybe he could coach Gasquet part time or something?

Very true what you say you two. I was very disappointed to see Gasquet lose so easily and I must say that despite a good first set against Monfils I thought his whole game lacked consistency. He rushes too much between points and that is probably the cause behind his weak serve. He needs to think it through before delivering it and of course put more weight into it.

A new coach is essential if he wants to get to the next level up. So far his only successes have been patches of his own genius but he needs to be able to rely on a B game when things don't go as smoothly as he expects and this is where Djoko is better at this moment. He simply has a better B game.

Lundgren could have been a good choice but I am unsure about his capabilty to give the discipline Gasquet needs. What about Roger ????? the guy who was coaching Hewitt before the AO? Frankly I don't know but you right....Needs a new coach.

Well I can't speak technically on what the coach should do, but he definitely needs some new input because he is a marvellous talent and he isn't getting the results to back that up.
