Does anyone know where i can find a transcript of Safin's post-match interview from his match with Roddick? It's not up on the Australian Open site......

Thanks Wise - i thought it would be pretty good. Not a happy bunny was he?

Yeh, about half the interview was him crucifying the umpires, the tournament organisers... just about everyone really! But the most interesting thing for me was this:

QUOTE
Q. How close are you to being back at the level you were two years ago?

MARAT SAFIN: Very far (laughter). Unfortunately very far. Because the problem is that I had a very difficult career because I've been injured every second year. So whenever I was playing good, I was getting injured.

It seems his motivation and all that isn't the problem anymore, it's just his battle for fitness. Let's hope he can have an injury-free year in 2007 so he can get back to his previous high levels, or at least near to them.

First person to paste in the couple of sentences he said after that one gets a lifetime of :whip:

And I wondered why they hadn't put it up on their website :yikes:

The "20 years" bit, you mean? Thought that it would have been your favourite bit of the interview! ;)

I thought Marat was bang on about the wet courts. Of course players don't just use the court area itself.. How ludicrous is that?

In fact there have been numerous instances of the AO organisers making a pig's ear of proceedings. SW19 is much better run in terms of the event itself (with the ridiculous ticket allocation system a major exception!! )
