Title: Another straight sets win for Murray
tlimvvo2max - January 20, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
Played excellently, first serve over 70 per cent, Chela not at his best with ankle but still... AM hasn't dropped a set yet.
Should be a cracker against Nadal (who won't let him get away with dropping serves the way he did in the third set just now... as Brad's no doubt telling him).
drakey01 - January 20, 2007 12:33 PM (GMT)
Great play from Murray so far this tournament, to get to the fourth round without dropping a set is impressive, especially after his performance there last year.
I really can't see him getting past Nadal though, but even if he doesn't he's had a pretty good run, and matched his seeding in the process.

way to go Murray! got to see a tiny bit of the match and he looked good out there. Next up Nadal and who knows what could happen? One to look forward to me thinks.

 Murray
 pleeeease beat Nadal
Nick Cica - January 20, 2007 12:42 PM (GMT)
Well done Murray.
How did people watch this match? I know this sounds a dim question but I've only just moved back to the UK and don't have a television. Tomorrow, I do have access to a television where I might be able to see the Federer Djokovic match. But only if it is broadcast by the BBC. From the Beeb's site, it seems they could broadcasting it but where?
The television question does have digital BBC channels. Or are people watching this on Sky?
Pebs - January 20, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
Hey Nick.
Am guessing its on a sky channel but I have one of those digital freeview box thingies and its on their interactive service.
Was just looking at the bbc sport page cause I thought I might try online but I couldnt quite figure out how that all worked at all.
There is livestreaming somewhere about though if you cant access the tv.
mightyjeditribble - January 20, 2007 12:49 PM (GMT)
Well done Andy :bigwave:
He did really well to beat Chela so convincingly.
Nadal is a pretty tough proposition. I think a lot depends on the conditions of the game: if it takes place in the heat, then Nadal has a real advantage. Otherwise, I think Andy could a least give Rafa a really good match, provided he plays at least as well as he did today. He seems to thrive going up against higher-ranked opponents. While I'm not convinced he can beat Nadal, I don't think this will be easy for the Spaniard.
Did you see Andy's first-serve percentage today? I think it was 71 ... that's about 25 percent more than he usually has, isn't it?
tlimvvo2max - January 20, 2007 12:49 PM (GMT)
It will be on BBCi - they just promised to do that whatever time it's played.
If you've got sharp eyes and broadband you can also watch it streamed on the BBC tennis website (UK residents only, so you're in luck there).

Well done Andy Murray!
I have only seen bits of this game, but it seems that he played well, and probably would have won even if Chela hadn't had an apparently troublesome ankle. Nice way for him to gauge his progress. Plays Chela in 2006 and loses, plays Chela in 2007 and wins.
Rafa v Murray should be a good match, another yardstick against which he can measure his progress.

I've got the computer hooked up to the TV and can watch it live online. I think, however, everything that's on online is also on digital (though I may be wrong). And they should have the Fed match on the livestream tomorrow morning, so I imagine you can see it on digital. (We can't get digital around here yet, so I don't know  )

BBCi is what, a digital channel? Apologies to other site members for hijacking the thread like this

Hewitt is trailing 2 sets to 1. Its 3-3 in the 4th

Hi Nick! :)
bbci is indeed digital, part of the Freeview package.
You can buy a Freeview box pretty cheaply (£30-40?), and many TVs now have it built in.. and recorders too. There is the issue of whether you are in an area which can get digital programmes, which is best to check out first.
Worth investing in, as bbci now also broadcast the French Open on bbci too :) and other nice things like Film4.
tlimvvo2max - January 20, 2007 12:55 PM (GMT)
Just an odd thought - it's possible that if Murray doesn't beat Nadal he won't move up in the rankings at all despite adding a good many points (145 I make it so far).
Baghdatis will plummet, but otherwise those within reach of AM didn't have any points to defend (Haas, Berdych, Djokovic) or have already defended them (Ferrer). Plus just behind him is Gasquet who might well progress further... leaving AM exactly where he was!
Funny things, rankings, sometimes.

Ive just been enjoying the Murray match on my new digital TV on BBCi, and Gonzales against Hewitt is on at the moment . Well worth getting a digital box for your TV the quality of the picture makes all the difference. :) Plus analogues on the way out anyway.

I watched the murray match also and he is doing us all proud what a player he is.Where are all those people doubting him?
chetanpv - January 20, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
I think all credit must go to Brad Gilbert for Murray's success. BG has one of the greatest tennis minds of the 20th and 21st century. I wont be surprised if he takes Murray to the top of the world rankings like he did to Andre and Roddick.
tlimvvo2max - January 20, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
I love the "Bradcam" that all broadcasters seem to have to cut to him during Murray's matches... most entertaining (especially when AM was dropping serves in the third set today
tlimvvo2max - January 20, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
... the emoticon is Brad's face by the way!

Congrats to Andy.
I hope him and Nadal can have a good match together. :)
