Title: Martina's push for 4...

vivahate - January 20, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)
another straights set victory for hingis

but in her first 3 matches she hasn't really been pushed by a quality player. certainly her first real test of these championships will come from either safina or na li. safina proving as much in that gold coast final.

although i still expect martina to prevail. we can't be messing with that clijsters quarter rematch ;) ;)

petalp - January 20, 2007 07:12 AM (GMT)
Absolutely, well played Martina!! :yahoo:

She must be playing with a good degree of confidence, which is great. And you can't ask for much more than her putting herself in the situation to (hopefully) beat Li/ Safina and then Clijsters.. :ok:

BIG-TODGER - January 21, 2007 11:41 PM (GMT)
I'ld love martina to do well, or win the tourniment (well her or Serina) but i just have my doubts regarding martina and that serve, her mind is superb and she does everything so well, but it's sad the power game has overtaken her. Anyway fingers crossed that style can triumph over power!

Hingis def. Li 4-6 6-3 6-0 :)

Basically, from the second onwards, Li sucked...

Yeah so erratic off the ground, i believe something like 69 unforced errors! Even Venus didnt hit that many last year roflmao

Hingis did well to stay in it, but what a reprieve from Li............. Hardly as if Hingis was dominating at all really, just error, winner, error, error from Li.

Dark_Necrofear - January 22, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
Im currently watching this match again and Na Li was disgusting with her erratic display of junior tennis.Hingis just kept the ball in play and inflicted a Cheaddar Cheese bagel upon her slit eyed opponent!

Well done Hingis, however I fear Clijsters may be too much!

I hope she finds a way to beat the Belgian!

good analysis roflmao

(so true tho)

Martina will have to play much better to take a set off Kim; who is to be honest on the form of her life :yikes:

Dark_Necrofear - January 22, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
Serenaw19,do you like my sSerena pic. That was against the Serbian.I

SerenaW19 - January 22, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
yep I do, I remember seeing her make that face during the match and I was a little scared

Where did you find it?

Dark_Necrofear - January 22, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)
Over at BBC in the photo gallery.I love this look of hers. Its a determined, dark and vengeful look.Like my name.

I love this girl hey!

One should not use language like this. No need for it!

Apologies if it offended you or anyone else. There was none intended!I just always consider people who narrow their eyes to be strategically motivated and always have a plan rumbling in their heads. It symbolises great thought. And NO,it is not a stab at Chinese,Japanese or any race from that section of the world. In any event, the chinese and the japanese are very much responsible for our technology, they are geniuses!

So once again apologies to you and anyone!

T01 - January 22, 2007 01:17 PM (GMT)
That is good of you to apologise Dark. But you haven't offended me.

But, I wonder, if you have ever called Sharapova that becasue she sometimes narrows her eyes as you say when concentrating! hmmm...

I dont mean to offend anyone and I will always apologise someone does take offence.I wouldnt want someone to offend me.

I actually have called Sharapova that and have liked her to my Jack Russell who has very similar sly eyes.As we all know Jack Russelss are smart dogs and so is Masha. She looks a bit like my pet!

vivahate - January 22, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
another round of applause for ms. hingis

but she will have to be in tough against clijsters. i really do think her AO will end next round, but it should go to 3.

for now, i'll bask in her rather lacklustre win over

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Usually i dont mind watching Hingis, but she's been so passive with her ballstriking

I watched her match with Li, and it was all on Li, her winners putting her ahead, her errors putting Hingis ahead, Marti really keeps the UE count down low, which has always been her strength, but if a consistently powerful player (like Lindsay B) ) takes her on, she's toast...

Kim has to have a horror show for her to lose IMO

I just detest those mid-court balls from Hingis, thats why i'm always annoyed when Venus loses to Hingis  roflmao

Kim's going to have another similar scoreline to the other meetings, eg 7-6 6-1.................yawn

I don't know why she plonks them there

vivahate - January 22, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
the girl is too established now and kind of set in her ways. martina plays tennis on her own terms.

felixsanchez - January 22, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
IMO. I think Hingis is one of the weakest left in the draw, along side Safarova!

All the other can beat her off the court and can move just as well!

SuperBRAT - January 22, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see hingis win. She can actually play the game and has a great tennis brain rather than just slug it out liek a bloody machine. Touble s she is sadly most likely going to get a battering from Clijsters and her ugly tennis. but you never know.

SerenaW19 - January 22, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
Poor Kim so unpopular on here roflmao

liam_valid - January 22, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I think Kim is great, if she was a tv presenter or something

vivahate - January 22, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
hingis/clijsters could and should be the most competitve match in the women's quarters.

ObL!v!0N - January 23, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
pah, all you lot can write Hingis off for all I care B)

I just hope the Stepanek match finishes before, otherwise she'll spend the whole match thinking about him, rather than herself

she says that, but I know it's not true

That's why she lost to Sugiyama at Wimbledon, she was thinking about the Stepanek game, rather than her own game

Don't know about a push for 4 - if she ever gets the French she's done it all in my book. :ok:

unless you count the Olympics as a serious tournament :bs: roflmao

vivahate - January 24, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
not really, but it looks good on a resume
