Title: Nadal vs Wawrinka
Wise_Analyst - January 20, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
Super Spaniard off to a good start, breaking Wawrinka in the first game. I expect the Swiss to cause Nadal real trouble at some point in this match.

Wawrinka may take a set at some point. But as of now Rafa "Swiss killer" Nadal is on the rampage.

Yep chet, so far he's making the usual light work of a Swiss opponent. 3-0 now, with two breaks of serve.

Are you watching the match live Wise? Nadal is playing incredible today. Cant see him losing a set. He'll be real tough to beat if he can maintain this form.

I am, Wawrinka's playing well himself but he's simply being outgunned here. If Nadal plays like he has done in this set for the rest of the championship, he'd be unstoppable.
He takes the first set 6-2.

WOW.
Rafa is playing pretty well.He took the first set easily enough.

I'm gonna go to bed, I'm sure I'll sleep well after the astounding tennis I've just seen courtesy of Nadal.
Meanwhile Nalby wins the 4th set 6-4 and takes his match with Grosjean into a decider. Night all.

night wise. I'm sure you'll have sweet dreams after watching Rafa's performance. I am tempted to change my initial predition of Roddick over Blake in the final to Nadal over Roddick in the final.

Nalby came back from match point down to win it in five. Nadal is now up two sets to love in this match. (And I don't see Wawrinka having much chance of a comeback here. )

Nadal should take this comfortably from how things are looking here.
And the Nalbandian match was pretty good

Rafa wins, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2!
Now that is impressive..
Going back to the Kohlschreiber match, I think that this one had been a really good workout for him in terms of tuning up well for the tougher rounds.. and I guess that this proved to be the case.
He will prove to be a formidable opponent for Andy Murray (of course assuming that he beats Chela) in the next round

Nadal-Wawrinka in few words:
Nadal seems to be ready for the big matches, i.e. against the big "flat" power boys, i.e. Berdy and Blake: I really hope he can meet at least one of them or even the two (still a possibility). It seems that this surface is the good one for his game outside clay so it should have his chances against these guys..A part from that he was the Nadal we all expect: Few unforced errors and a lot of spin..
Wawrinka (excuse me but I have too roflmao : if I think that both Chet and Wise were able to write on the BBC board -and several times- Stan was the real Swiss No1 let me roflmao roflmao )...Come on he shows all his limits today: he has a great one hand BH but his approach to short the point using the FH was just a disgrace..Too much points offer to Nadal: You cannot against him, you are automatically offering the match and it was partially like that...
Conclusion it is nice to see Nadal back in form (was he really out???..I guess it was only for those few "Nadal-fans"-rings a bell Chairman  - who are pretending to be a fan of a player without give him any second chances  ). Still the open question remains: Is his current level enough to beat the big Boys quoted above??? we will see...For sure AO is getting really exiting  ...
Ahh Yes petalp ( hi petal BTW :D )you are right: let's hope already for a Andy-Rafa big next match...This will be already a great match: For sure :ok:

Indeed. Against Philip, Nadal really had to find his best tennis, and it's really gotten him ready for this tournament. Similar to the second round in Wimby actually, come to think of it. Wasn't it something like he didn't get broken after that, on the way to the final?
The Murray match should be corker. (After all the build-up, let's hope it doesn't fizzle out as a routine win for Nadal.)

If you had noticed, Brad Gilbert was courtside during the Nadal match. He would have studied Nadal's game to the utmost detail. I'm sure he'll teach Murray a few tricks but its up to the Brit to execute it the way he did against Federer at Cincy.
