Before the tournament started, I was v tempted to put a cheeky £5 on Serena to win Aus Open - now, having passed her first big test against Petrova her odds are sure to have shortened. Of course, the likes of Mauresmo, Clijsters and Sharapova are a step above, but Serena's battle against Petrova will have done her the world of good. Will now read the comments of those who actually saw the match!

No bets for me this year. If I had have doen it woudl have been cheeky fivers on Safina (great odds) and Chakvetadze. I considered Vaidisova and Jankovic also for the less cheeky bets. The top women's odds were nto worth a small bet, but out of them I thought Clijsters woudl win it. and I cant; remember Serena's but if is was over 20-1 I'd have gone for it too, maybe at 15. Had a problem with my on line account the day I was planning to bet and by the time they sorted it I could not be arsed to bet as all odds shortened.
