Title: What a match!
The Dav - January 16, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
Sharapova def. PIN (That's right, Camille Pin!) 6-3 4-6 9-7 roflmao roflmao
Cam comes back from 0-5 down in the 3rd, saves 3 mps, and serves for it at 7-8 (leads 30-15  ), and then Sharpie wins...
AMAZING match! *
*I didn't see any of it btw roflmao
SerenaW19 - January 16, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Well, a near miss for Shazza, I expect she'll have a few stern words for someone or another in the press conference
The Dav - January 16, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
God, that would have been the choke of the century roflmao
Poor Cam :(
SerenaW19 - January 16, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
It reminded me a lot of Venus going out last year, same scoreline practically...would've been a bit more of a shock with Maria being the number one seed though :o
It's not often these days that a Maria match has me on the edge of my seat and Serena match is a breeze roflmao
trisco - January 16, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
Dav, Is your reply button back to normal? I had to get rid of the Sharpie one which may suit you! lol but grr...
lol

Well Venus didn't let a 5-0 lead slip! That would have been one of the biggest upsets of all time IMO, Maria will probably win now

People were saying at the FO how after suriving a scare she would be stronger to win the tournie and look what happened there. Biggest choke of her career
I think she'll still probably get to the semis though.
The biggest upset of all time was Lori McNeill beating Steffi Graf in the 1st round of Wimbledon but lets not go there
liam_valid - January 16, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
I dont think it was choke material, Pin was bouncing around the court and Maria could barely walk. If she is to progress she better hope for a night match on thursday because she aint liking these conditions
SerenaW19 - January 16, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
dl was so right, the court really is making Maria's movement abysmal

I was behind Lori all the way with that SW!
She had a lot of talent and I'm glad she showed it on the biggest stage that year.

honestly Dav, i have had a change of heart about how she managed to pull that out of the bag....JHH would have retired half an hour ago. I dont even think my beloved Mary would have managed to win

I agree, i said in another post i actually wanted her to win at first---her attitude in the last set was amazing. If she works on that serve she might stand a chance of getting top 20. It made me laugh when Jo Durie announceed her serve was faster roflmao thats gotta hurt

Was a great match anyway, and I didn't see a shot roflmao
Great for the WTA :D

Sounds like a really good match!.
Too bad I didn't see any of it either :(
LDF - January 16, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
Wow. :o roflmao
I just watched some of it, and Camille played out of her mind; ok, Maria was making a lot of unforced errors, but Pin was chasing everything down and causing some damage with her forehand down the line. In contrast Maria's movement was clunky (though I think part of this was due to the intense conditions) and her forehand was very erratic.
She showed what a true champion she is in the final 3 games though - she was clearly struggling but willed herself on to make one extra push and that managed to get her the victory. :)
LDF - January 16, 2007 06:48 AM (GMT)
Kim leads Bardina 6-0 5-0
LDF - January 16, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
(4) Kim Clijsters def Vasilisa Bardina 6-0 6-0 in 44 minutes; Bardina only won 15 points, and made 22 unforced errors but only 3 winners.
Poor her :(
Well done to Kim though :D
And Martina is also through, beating Dechy 6-0 6-2 :ok:
dl04 - January 16, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
Camille! Who'd have thought it roflmao roflmao Just when i counted her out as well. What a great effort by Pin, and i think she hit a career best of 14 winners()
Sharapova  Well she's going to have to sharpen up big time............65 unforced errors and about 60 were off the forehand. Again showing off her woeful technique. Movement was poor, but i think heat played a part.
I cant believe Pin was so close :o :(
SuperBRAT - January 16, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
I wish I'd been able to see that Sharapova v Pin match. I was expecting a 6-1 6-2 scoreline not 3 sets and 9-7! :o
