Title: Hingis has it hard?

trisco - January 15, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
She has IMO landed in quite a tough quarter, if not the toughest.

She first has to get past Dechy, who on her day can knock most people for six. Then potentially she has to face Mirza in the 3rd, just coming off the Asian Games success, then either the on form Safina or Na Li to contend with in the fourth before Clijsters in the Quarters.

Jeez the girl will have to work if she wants to get far this year.

:(

I agree Trisco. I thought that with some of the bigger names out it would be a good chance for Hingis this year to make the semis and possibly final. But with a draw like that and her lack of power, it's a very tough one indeed.

Hopefully, just hopefully  she can get through this tough hard hitting draw to then face Clijsters in the quarters and have a real good match against her. As long as she doesn't just put it in the middle of the court as she sometimes tends to when under pressure and actually use her guile and find the angles, she might just surprise us.

Now we'll see just how fit she really is. Can she loop those balls off of rocket shots and win the points/games/match?

I think that her draw is probably the toughest out of all of the women.. Dechy, Mirza, Safina/ Li, Clijsters, Sharpova, Mauresmo..? holy smoke!! :yikes:

I'd be stunned if she made it past the quarters, but wouldn't be too surprised if she at least made it to that stage. Kim might just be too much for her, but I could feasibly see her beating Mirza.. Safina/ (Li?) will be a tough one though..

Hopefully she's up for the challenge and will give it her best shot.. Go Martina!! :D

Yep we've always said she can always beat one or two tough power players, but I can't see her beating all these and then Clijsters, one of the hardest hitters on the tour ever.

Kim is always going to be stretch for todays Martina, much as the Williams were for Martina 5 years ago.

She needs to land an out of form Kim to be able to get past her. Which isn't the case at this AO sadly.

Still here's hoping she gets to the quarters, which I think she certainly can, and give Kim a good match :)

She really does have a damn f-UPED draw.I really want her to do well!

vivahate - January 16, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
my girl will do well. she played great last night against a tricky opponent. dechy doesn't have any weapons, but she's solid all around the court and is capable of beating the top players once and awhile.

go Martina

ea-sy, ea-sy, ea-sy

pah, my and viva's girl ain't scared of no one. Come on Hingie, you can do it for da 4th time :D

liam_valid - January 16, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
tricky opponent? she couldnt even keep the ball in play. Keothavong would probably have bagelled Dechy last night

vivahate - January 17, 2007 04:20 AM (GMT)
sorry liam, but you've got a better chance of getting that wild card than keothavong bagelling anyone :D
