Thank you, thank you :D

Hopefully she can have another encouraging match in the next round before facing Nadia in the third round.

Serena more often than not is going to drub the tour light weights (apart from Sun and now Bammer  ), but it's when she comes up against the top seeds that my confidence in her fails :(

Still onwards and upwards, a good win :)

Very Good win for her nonetheless.I dont care whether it was a lightweight or not every match counts. This girl is definetly on the way up!

Good luck to her. I do think Serena has a chasm to cross though - she can often beat the so called lightweights easily, and so she should do. But when it comes to the later stages and the very top women she falters. I think that her lack of match practice is the real problem. She needs to be realisitc abotu what she can achieve this year and be prepared to hang in there and build slowly on that over the next year or two. And of course work on staying fit so as she can get that match practice in. I'm nto sure what is realistic for her in terms of success and who she can beat, but really none of the top players are infallible. So if she can get her edge back there would be no reason why she should not be able to beat people like Amelie and Kim, and JHH. Maria would be tough but not impossible. If Serena got her edge back then I'm sure even the mentally tough Maria woudl be a little worried.

A quick analysis Superbrat...Serena came back late last year and had some good wins.Look at her I think US Open performance. She may have lost to Amelie but in the process she bagelled the life out of her because she then went on to get double bagelled by Maria. So her realistic terms means she can be number 1 and quite frankly she can.

Let her get hungry again and then we will see!She just needs a sniff at a semi or a final then there will be a different Serena!

Yeah you could be right. But she's gotta keep getting to these semis to break through, I'm not convinced she'll do it first time but then again with her, if she gets fired up you never know.

Yay Serena :D

25 winners to 14 UEs, 10 aces to 3 DFs...pretty good :ok:

SerenaW19 - January 15, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
Yep, some good stats, hopefully that 1st serve % will go up as well as she will need it high against Nadia!

Much better than her match against Bammer though :phew:
I don't why Serena doesn't play this well at all WTA events

I dont think she has even played at all. Pottypova is sharapova, you know the way she loves to go to the loo.
