Title: Roddick vs Tsonga
Description: An apology
Wise_Analyst - January 15, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
I see in the prediction thread everyone went for a straight sets victory for Roddick over Tsonga. Well I'm afraid I did too... the result, of course, Tsonga immediately taking the first set on a tie-break. And a thriller too - 20-18 the final score!
I doubt this'll turn into an upset but Tsonga's serving brilliantly and if he could keep it up you never know...

:yikes: Tsonga gets a break in the 2nd set, 4-2 he leads. I suspected Roddick might crash out early, but not this early...

Tsonga choked serving for the set and Roddick wins the tie-break. 1 set all, Roddick should ease through now.

Wise.
Are you watching the Federer match?? He is struggling too.. So much for the preparation.

Indeed I am chet, and Phau looks the better player so far. In fact he has a chance now to break Federer, at 3-3.

unfortunately this american tv espn is showing the roddick match as its close.
But a first round exit is due for Federer and it looks to happen today.

All right..Phau leads 5-3.
Am starting a new thread about this match..
Roddick has this one wrapped up.

A Federer defeat is looking like it might be on the cards, as Phau holds for a deserved 5-3 lead.

Roddick goes through comfortably in the end, although he was looking in real trouble at one point, when the Frenchman Tsonga served for a 2 sets lead.
Nevertheless, the American progresses, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Yea He looked in trouble.
I hope he can make a run deep into the tournament this time.

It was a hell of a tie-break - I'd recorded the Eurosport coverage on the HD-recorder overnight, so was having a quick flick through it over breakfast to see if anything interesting had happened when I chanced upon this tie-break.
Ended up having to flick through some of the later points on double speed or I'd have been extremely late for work!
