Title: Murray v Safin

mightyjeditribble - January 13, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so thought I'd check on this one. Andy just one the first set in a tiebreak, despite having been 0-3 down at the beginning of the set.

No matter what happens in the rest of the match, I feel that's a good sign for Andy. Let's hope he can keep his good standard up as he heads into the AO, and some more serious matches.

By the way, I like what Roddick had to say about Andy in his interview yesterday:

Q. How was Andy hitting the ball?

A. Yes, he's a good player, he's got an amazing feel for the game.

You know, as opposed to some of us, he's a real player, as

opposed to just a hitter, and he kind of constructs points well.

It's always a little bit of a mind game playing him because he's

pretty tricky out there.

Hopefully he can back the talent up with some good results at the AO.

Murray wins the second set 6-2 :yikes:

Not a bad way to get ready for his AO campaign, I reckon.

I only watched the first 3 games of this match, so i am a bit surprised of the end result (3-0 for Safin it was). But what a beautful and easy game Safin has when he is on song. He should be by far the number 2 if fully fit and focused like a real pro....and Federer would have much less of a gap lead. Don't you think?

We have here one of the greatest player in History in terms of talent and power but he has been struggling all along. A shame.

Oh dear. I don't usually make that kind of spelling mistake (I think). But then again, it *was* in the middle of the night, so perhaps I can be forgiven ...

you were obviously either gutted about Safin losing the first set or elated by Andy winning it.......your emotions obviously affected your spelling, i can understand that!!! :)

Maybe it was confusion about whom I wanted to win ... I like both Andy and Marat, so it's kind of hard to choose ... ;)
