Dinky Jo - January 4, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
Murray gets broken in the first game of this match

Nice to see a serve volleyer performing well here, the Beast's already beaten Wawrinka. Nevertheless, I expect Murray to win this, although I wouldn't be surprised if Mirnyi took the first set. The Scot often starts slowly and his matches regularly feature lots of breaks of serve, this one could be a typical British rollercoaster.
2-0 now to the Belarussian.

4-0 to Max "The Beast" Mirnyi!
Murray in 3 i think! More Like i hope!
Wise_Analyst - January 4, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
3-0 even, with a double break
felixsanchez - January 4, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
4-1 to mirnyi!
Murray to take the set 6-4 :P :P
Wise_Analyst - January 4, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
OK, seems my scoreboard is about a game slow. Sounds like good stuff from Mirnyi, I still expect him to go the same way as Volandri though.
Dinky Jo - January 4, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
methinks Wise may want Murray to lose - after all, we all know how Wise's predictions go ;)2
felixsanchez - January 4, 2007 05:31 PM (GMT)
Is it me or has you live scroing stopped? at 5-1 15 all and murray's second serve?
Dinky Jo - January 4, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
I've got 5-2 and 30-15 on Miryni's serve
Wise_Analyst - January 4, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
I want Murray to win because he's got potential, and needs games under his belt. I prefer Mirnyi's style of play obviously. A good run here will help Murray wipe Fed out in Melbourne ;)2
Nonetheless, cheers for providing my get-out clause should the Beast triumph :)

Murray a set and a break down :yikes: 2-6 0-1* to Mirnyi

So, is anyone actually able to watch, or are you just following a scoreboard?
Mirnyi is one of those players who has shown flashes of brilliance, but doesn't seem to have the consistency to be a top player.
Wise_Analyst - January 4, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
I'm following the BBC live scores, which are about a game behind judging by my previous posts. Murray has broken back now, and leads 2-1 on serve in the 2nd.
Yeh Nick I've seen Mirnyi look brilliant sometimes but he's inconsistent. He's made a few Wimbledon 4th rounds but don't think he's managed a QF at any Slam.
Dinky Jo - January 4, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
scoreboard for me  Murray is 2-1 up in the second set and is 40-15 up on Mirnyi's serve!

Looks like Murray may be about to pounce --- 15-40 at 2-1 in the second set, on Mirnyi's serve. And he takes it to make it 3-1. Let's hope he can keep it going ...

Wise - if you go to the ATP website they have live scoring which are better than the BBC, although you don't get the commentary to go with it!

Andy holds his serve to consolidate the break --- he has to go via deuce, but never really looks in trouble and doesn't face any break points. Now 40-15 on Mirnyi's serve --- looks like he's going to hold comfortably.
And so he does. 4-2 to Muray, but just one break. Let's hope Andy can serve out this set, and then also take the third!

Hmm. My Eurosport feed just turned green and upside down. :badpc:
Anyway, Murray holds, to edge closer to levelling the match. Come on, Andy!

Mirnyi looks like he's unravelling a bit, as he goes 15-40 down. He saves one set point, but goes down with the next!
The match is level, and the momentum is going with Andy. Let's hope he keeps that head of his together!

mightyjeditribble - January 4, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
Do you reckon that ball from Mirnyi on the second point clipped the line? He certainly seemed to think so!
No matter, it gets called out, and Murray breaks for 3-1 in the deciding third set!
:bigwave:

4-1 up for Murray.
Hey, Wise may actually get a prediction right - d'ya think we should hold a little celebration for him? ;)2

mightyjeditribble - January 4, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
Max tries to fight back on Andy's serve and makes it 30-30, but to no avail. Murray consolidates, for 4-1. If he keeps his nerve, this is his now.
Dinky Jo - January 4, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
I think Mirnyi is done for now. He's just missed what look like an easy shot (although my viedo has gone funny, so i'm not sure.....)
